Arcee pulled into a parking spot down the street from the Kawasaki dealership.
"Why are we parking here?" said Kita as she took off her helmet and put on her sunglasses. For whatever reason, they boosted her confidence. She didn't care that the sun was going down, she was going to wear them.
"You don't want them to see you riding me. Breaks the image. I pulled in behind this Porsche Cayenne, so it looks like you drove it here. In case anyone was looking. When you're on your test drive just drive by me slowly, and I'll flash the bike."
"Ok. Wish us luck."
"You don't need luck," said Arcee. "You got this."
Kita looked at Ryan. "Shall we go?"
Together, helmets in hand, they walked down the tree and grass lined sidewalk to the dealership. Kita made sure to stay on the sidewalk as she entered the dealership. Sophisticated and polite people don't go crashing through the bushes or cut on the grass.
The dealership building was lit brightly in the setting sun. Tall lights around the sales lot lit the motorcycles, ATVs, and watercraft. Kita had walked four steps onto the lot when a middle-aged man with balding hair in a Kawasaki polo shirt and khakis hurried up to them.
Uh-oh. They remember us from earlier. But the man didn't look angry.
"Hi. I'm Tim," he said as he stopped in front of Kita and Ryan. "Welcome to the Big Surf Kawasaki Dealership. It looks like you've come prepared to ride." He stuck out his hand to Kita.
She shook it, noting he didn't give her a limp handshake nor did he try and crush her hand. Tim shook Ryan's hand.
"So, what brings you in tonight?" said Tim with a high wattage smile.
Kita returned his smile with a bright one of her own. She shared a look with Ryan.
"Your birthday. You tell him what you want," said Ryan.
Wow. I'll have to give Ryan some props for coming up with that. "Yes, it's my birthday in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking for a new toy."
"You've come to the right place," said Tim. "Anything in particular?"
"I'm looking for something fun and exciting. I like to race and hate to lose."
Tim laughed politely. "Who does?"
Here goes. "I've had my eye on the H2R."
"You won't lose riding that, I guarantee it," said Tim. "It's the fastest hypersport motorcycle on the planet. Come inside, have a look."
Kita looked at Ryan. He smiled and nodded. They followed Tim inside.
"Can I get you anything? Smart water? Diet Coke? Bubly sparkling water? I've got snacks, too," he asked.
They give out food? What the slag? I didn't look that bad last time...Well, maybe I did, but they still could have offered a snack. Of course, sophisticated girls don't pig out on free food. So, what would a sophisticated girl get?
"I'll have a water."
"Sure, no problem. I'll be right back. The H2R is on the stand in the corner. Have a look."
Kita and Ryan walked over and watched the bike turn on the pedestal.
"Are you serious?" Kita hissed at Ryan. "We get all this because we look good?"
Ryan laughed. "Welcome to the big C. It's even prettier up close."
Kita turned back to the reason they were there. The bike was beautiful, sleek, and sexy. Its cowl was gray, with a neon green frame, and chrome exhaust.
