The next morning, I woke up to bright lights (Dammit) and Samantha’s voice yelling in my ear.
“Dafuq?! You Barrel! Are you trying to kill me?!” I asked loudly as I threw the covers form my body. Turning to glance over my shoulder, I noticed that Mephisto was gone.
“Come on, the maids made us breakfast. And you and Daniela are going with Mephisto to pick up Yukio and Rin.” She explained. I furrowed my brows and looked at her in confusion.
“You’re not coming too?” I asked. She shook her head.
“I demanded that I take the entrance exam last night, even though I didn’t need to and apparently, I got top marks too, so they want me to stay here and help prepare the speech…” she trailed off and smiled in apology. I nodded my head sadly, but in understanding.
“Alright, I guess that’s okay, seeming you know exactly what to write. You practically memorized everything Yukio ever says….” I smiled. She nodded and hopped towards the door.
“Come on~! I haven’t eaten yet and I’m hungry! Plus you’ll be leaving soon.” She said as she dragged me out the door. I laughed slightly and followed her, noting that we were just running randomly down the halls in our nightwear. After a few more minutes of twists and turns, we reached a large dining room, obviously only used by Mephisto and other exorcists, not regular teachers.
“Uhh, hi…” I muttered quietly as we passed a few exorcists on our way to the main table.
“Hales, we’re practically treated like royalty. Daniela likes it, but she already snapped at someone about calling her Lady Daniiru. I think it was the Lady part that set her off.” Sam explained as we approached the table and went around it so we could sit next to Daniela, who was messing with some scrambled eggs.
“Keep playing with it Dani, it’ll surely come back to life for you.” I mocked in amusement. Jolting up, she turned to me quickly before relaxing and putting her head back on the chair.
“Well, well, well…. If it isn’t Sleeping Beauty and Morning Bird…” she said tiredly as she shoved a forkful of egg in her mouth.
“Choke.” Sam and I swore together. Daniela coughed and tried to clear her throat before glaring at us in such an intensity, it could probably kill a ghoul.
“Fluck you two.” She cursed at us. I grinned and sat down.
“Don’t you mean Cluck? Babe, you need to get your priorities straight.” I scolded happily, earning a smack over the head.
“Just eat… I want to get out of here.” She ordered in annoyance as a maid came to give me my food.
“Lady Heirii, Miss Daniiru ordered you pancakes. I hope it fits your tastes as well as she mentioned.” She stated calmly as she placed the plate in front of me.
“Oh, thank you. But please, I’d prefer you not call me Lady… I’m not all that special. Miss, like Dani, will be perfectly acceptable.” I replied. The maid curtsied and went away.
“Nicely handled. Unlike Dani, who threw and spoon at the butler.” Sam said, gaining a fork to her forehead. She anime fall and sputtered blood from the wound like a fountain.
“Don’t you have a speech to write?!” Daniela asked in rage. I grabbed her arm and looked her in the eye.
“Stop. Calm down. I know you’re not a morning person, but that doesn’t mean you take it out on staff and your best friends.” I told her. She seethed for a moment before apologizing and going back to her food.
