The first thing I did that morning was check up on Angela, and I was relieved when I found her still sleeping.
She was safe.
All night I had worried that it was all just a dream, so throughout it I would check up on Angela just in case. But she was there every time.
It was twelve now and she was still asleep. I didn't want to wake her because I figured she needed plenty of rest because of what she had been through.
I set the cup of coffee down when the doorbell rang. I didn't even think twice as I grabbed my gun also just in case it wasn't anyone good. But as soon as I had opened the door, I was met with Estrela and Kenneth.
She stormed inside hurriedly, her heels clicking against the floor. "Where is she?"
I raised an eyebrow at her. "Who?"
She turned to me and glared angrily. "Don't play dumb, Nathan. I know that you took her from the hospital."
"I don't recall doing that," I said with a smug smile. "I remember taking her to the hospital, but I didn't take her here."
"I know that she's here!" she yelled suddenly in her bitchy tone. "You were seen taking her away. Now where is she?"
"Can you shut up?" I shushed her with a glare. "Fine, I took her. Happy?"
Estrela huffed while throwing her hair behind her shoulder. "Where is she?"
"She's sleeping. She had a hard night, so I figured that she would need plenty of rest. So can you like stop with your yelling?"
"Well, then I'm going to go wake her up so I can take her home with me."
My eyes widened at words. "You're taking her home, are you insane?"
Estrela scoffed. "I would be insane if I left her here with you, so that you can jerk off to the thought of her every night."
"Low blow," I muttered through gritted teeth. "And I don't even fućking do that!"
"Don't you?" she asked while quirking an eyebrow.
"No, I do not." Then I added, "And you should not take her home because she isn't safe. The person who kidnapped her is still out there!"
Kenneth decided to cut in. "Wait, Es, you can't do that. Nathan is right."
Estrela glared at Kenneth also. "I'm going to get my sister and go home. I don't care if the both of you have a problem with that."
"While you're at it, you should know that I told her that your parents are gone and they were murdered at your house. Do you really think she wants to go there, to the place where she will be most depressed?"
"Actually, Nathan is right. I think you and Angela should stay here, at least for a little while."
Estrela shook her head. "No. What Angela needs is to be at home with the family she has left."
Kenneth raised an eyebrow. "Es, she was kidnapped, missing for weeks, she is probably traumatized, the person who did that is still out there."
"Well, she can't just sit around and do nothing. And I'm positive that she doesn't want to be in the same house with strangers. No offence of anything."
"Actually, I was the one who saved her so don't I get a say in this?" I asked.
Estrela blew out a breath, probably annoyed. "Nathan, I am really grateful about what you did. But your part is done now, you found her."
