Chapter 2: Up In The Sky

Skylar Evans looked out onto the open water. She didn't think she'd so much blue in her life, in some spots she couldn't tell where the ocean ended and the sky started.
She felt a hand slip around her waist and pull her close. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
"Mmm." Sky mused before twisting around to stare up into Steve Rogers' brilliant blue eyes. "I prefer this better."
"Well, aren't you the smooth talker?" Steve leaned down and kissed her. Sky smiled against his lips, she didn't think she'd ever get used to the idea of Steve as her boyfriend, but every time she thought about it she got a massive grin on her face and sighed happily.
They had been dating for a few weeks and today was Sky's first day at S.H.I.E.L.D, and although the circumstances of her being called in earlier than expected weren't to everyone's liking, it had to be done.
Reluctantly, Steve pulled away first and tucked a couple of strands of Sky's hair behind her ear. "You nervous?"
"A little. It's been a while since I've been in an agency." Sky nodded.
"You'll be fine." Steve assured her, "But if you run into Stark, don't take anything he says seriously."
Sky chuckled and leaned her head on Steve's chest, "You've told me that seven times already."

When the jet landed, Agent Maria Hill was on the Tarmac waiting for them.
"Captain Rogers." Hill nodded in greeting, "Agent Evans."
"Agent Hill." Sky smiled politely, she didn't want to make an enemy on her first day.
Maria lead them to the bridge where five people were waiting to meet her. She already knew who they all were but they had never been properly introduced.
"Welcome aboard, Evans." Fury nodded, "I apologise for you having to come aboard earlier than expected."
"It's fine, Director." Sky replied back, trying not to remember how four years ago she'd hated his guts just because someone had told her too.
"I'd like to introduce you to the team you'll be working with." Fury said and went around to room in a clockwise motion. "Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. Clint Barton, or Hawkeye -I believe you two know each other already."
Clint and Skylar nodded begrudgingly but Fury moved on.
"Natasha Romanoff, or more famously known as Black Widow. Tony Stark, or Iron Man." Fury said and Sky waved to everyone awkwardly. She felt like the new kid in school. "There are two people missing but Thor is in a different realm and Barton is...indisposed."
This seemed to spark a little bit of an argument between everyone but Sky didn't know what anyone was talking about.
Sky frowned and thought to herself; hadn't I just been introduced to Clint Barton?
Clint scoffed, "Oh, so that's what we're calling it now?"
"Not now, Barton." Fury snapped and everyone shut up. "Stark, will you show Evans to her room? Rogers, come with me."
"My pleasure, Nick." Stark replied getting out of his chair.
"I'll come find you as soon as I'm done." Steve promised and gave me a quick kiss on the forehead.
"Come on, New Peggy." Stark sighed and lead me to my room.
"Ah, my names Sky." Sky replied, confused.
