"Z-zayn... um, hi," I stuttered. Now that I was out of the interview, my nerves took the better of me.

"Hi Scarlett," Zayn answered whilst staring in my eyes. I tried to avoid his gaze but failed. His deep eyes stared into my own, and I felt as he could see into my very soul. He had always had this effect on me, it didn't help that looking into his eyes felt as if you were looking into reflecting pools.

"I-" I began. Zayn put a finger up to my lips.

"Scar, just don't." Zayn stood in place for a second and I felt as he was able to yell at me for everything I had done to him. However, he had an idea of his own.

My lips processed what he was doing before my brain did.

I moved my lips in synchronization with his, savoring the pressure on my lips. Zayn slowly pulled away and I fell into his arms.

"Let's go somewhere," Zayn said. I nodded and he took my hand and led me outside to a car. We climbed in and drove to a park a few miles from the studio we had left. Zayn jumped out the car after we parked and ran around to the my side of the car. He opened the door and helped me out before leading me to the middle of the empty field.

We laid down on the grass and stared up at the dark sky. A few stars were scattered about and I focused on just one to think about everything that happened.

"Who are you when nobody's watching?" Zayn's smooth voice broke the looming silence.

"I- I'm- what?" I struggled.

"I've seen you in front of the cameras. I've seen you with all the boys. What are you like when nobody's watching? When people can't judge you so it doesn't matter?" he asked again. I seriously thought it was a joke until the answer rolled off my tongue.

"I'm Scarlett Alliana. I'm 19 and I'm from a small town that nobody has ever heard of. I like to wear sweatpants and read Harry Potter books. I was never interested in becoming a singer; but if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met the boy who I fell head of heels in love with. I have regrets, but who doesn't? But I try not to dwell on them; its the future that counts. I'm just a girl who was forced to grow up too fast," I revealed.

Zayn rolled into his side and looked right at me. I rolled over to face him and he smiled the most genuine smile I had ever seen on anyone.

"That's the girl I fell in love with. Scar, before I met you, I never knew what it was like to look at someone and smile for no reason. I hadn't realized how much I'd been needing to meet someone I might be able to say everything to. Scarlet, I was lost without you. I know exactly who I want to spend my whole life with. It's you Scarlett. I never want to leave you again. Babe, I'm riding a roller coaster and I want you with me the whole time," Zayn told me. I smiled an achingly large smile and moved closer to Zayn. I buried my face into the crook of his neck and he brought his arms around me. Zayn's lips grazed my ear and I hardy heard the quiet whisper that escaped his lips.

"Marry me."

Four months later

Zayn’s POV

Scarlett and I had agreed on a short engagement. We were getting married so young anyways. We had defied the odds with our relationship; this time at least. Our wedding was outside; a small service on the beach in California. Scarlett had suggested going to Bradford, but I knew she had always wanted a wedding on the beach: I was more than happy to comply. We had only invited my family and the boys’ families, along with a few of her aunts, uncles, and cousins. I had learned that her parents had passed away a few years before we had met. Also on our list were, of course, Josh, Paul and his wife, and Simon.
