You felt grateful for his understanding, archiving his name in your head as someone who could be counted on if you were ever in need of help.
You and the gate guard neared a tall, red building with a large kanji sign labeled "fire" right in front of the Hokage Mountain. You looked up to see five huge faces carved into the mountainside, each on of a Hokage.
"We're here." Izumo stated, leading you both into the so-called "academy".
The guard keeper led you both up several flights of stairs to the top level, overlooking the entire village.
You couldn't help but look out in awe, impressed by the scale of Konoha. The Land of Fire was truly impressive.
You turned your attention back to the task at hand as Izumo knocked on a large door.
"Come in." A distinctly female voice responded from the other side.
Izumo opened the door, leading both of you into the Hokage's office.
The Hokage was seated behind a desk littered with papers. She had long blonde hair and light brown eyes, a purple diamond tattoo in the center of her forehead. Standing to her right was another woman, most likely her assistant.
"Lady Hokage, this is (Y/F/N), the one accepted for your internship offer." Izumo announced.
The Hokage raised a brow at you, noting the long black cloak. After a moment of seemingly sizing you up, she spoke.
"I'm glad you could make it, (Y/N). We've been expecting you."
She made a gesture, dismissing the guard keeper.
You looked back at him quickly, thankful for his help finding the Hokage. He smiled back at you kindly before leaving the office, probably returning to his post at the gate.
After Izumo left, you turned your attention back to the Hokage seated in front of you.
"So, you are from the Land of Shadows?" The woman questioned. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the desk with her fingers interlaced.
You nodded, tapping the ninja band with your country's symbol that was tied around your waist.
The Hokage pulled several folders out from a drawer lining them up on her desk. She gestured for you to come closer to look at the documents.
"You may call me Lady Tsunade. These hold useful information for your stay here."
The Hokage flipped one folder open.
"This one contains information about who you will be interning, the other is some details about the village itself."
You looked down at the open folder, seeing a picture of four people- a masked, silver-haired man standing over three kids. Below the picture was a caption "Squad Seven members: Hatake, Kakashi; Jonin & Squad Leader, Haruno, Sakura; Genin & Squad member, Uchiha, Sasuke; Genin & Squad member, Uzumaki, Naruto; Genin & Squad member."
"You will be an intern for the Jonin, Kakashi Hatake, a very experienced ninja." Lady Tsunade explained.
You nodded slowly. The fact that this, Kakashi man covered part of his face already made you curious about him. He had to be similar to you in some way.
"Please, take these folders with you. I have already arranged for you to stay in a small apartment nearby. The key is in a pouch in the folder. I'll write the address down for you." Lady Tsunade explained as she pulled out a sticky note and pen.
You took the note graciously, thanking her for the hospitality.
"Of course, we wouldn't want to send the Land of Shadows the wrong vibe by treating you badly." She smiled in amusement, leaning back in her chair.
You nodded, agreeing that Konoha
wouldn't want to upset the Land of Shadows.
After several more minutes of small talk, Tsunade's assistant (who you learned to be named Shizune) said it was time to end the conversation.
"Please return to my office at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. Then I can introduce you to your new teammates."
You bowed your head to the Lady Hokage in respect, leaving her office with folders in hand.
As soon as you exited the building, you looked down at the sticky note and began the search for your new home.
About twenty minutes later, you finally found it, a modest apartment directly across the street from a flower shop.
You pulled the key out of its pouch and unlocked the door, walking into a small living room/ kitchen area. Down a small hall was a bathroom and bedroom with a balcony overlooking the street below.
You threw your pack and folders on the sofa, stumbling to the bed exhausted.
As soon as your head hit the pillow, you were out, not waking up until a couple hours later. By then, it was dark out, the lights of shops illuminating the bustling streets.
You decided to take a shower, the first one in a week. You groaned in relief as hot water washed away all the dirt and grime that covered your whole body.
After bathing, you brushed your hair, ripping out tangles and letting it air dry.
There was a small washer in the apartment complex's basement, so you changed into an extra set of clothes and took your dirty articles down to wash.
You decided to wash your cloak too, using a black-hooded jacket as a temporary substitute.
Seeing as you only had a couple extra sets of clothes, you decided you would go shopping in the morning.
After your clothes were clean, you put them away in a small dresser next to your bed. Feeling a wave of exhaustion hit you, you decided to ignore your grumbling stomach and go to sleep. You could eat a big breakfast in the morning.
Lying on your bed, staring at the ceiling, you found the streetlights outside were too bright.
You stood up and shut the curtains, enveloping the room in utter darkness.
Seeing as you were from the Land of Shadows, you weren't afraid of the dark, loved it in fact. You couldn't sleep if there was any light source present.
Fifteen minutes later, you drifted off, entering the land of dreams once again.
Tomorrow, your new life in the Hidden Leaf Village would begin.
