I woke up before Caleb, for the first time. I tried sneaking off the bed, without waking him, when I noticed his bandages on his head. It looks as if he tried to redo them by himself with his eyes closed. I got all of the materials to redo the bandages and redid them carefully, so I didn't wake him. Even though I got stronger while he was away, it still wasn't good enough. How could i go away with him if I'm only going to be a burden the whole time? I don't want to just stay here and worry about him when he leaves.
"I got it," I whispered.
"Got what?" I look up to see Caleb looking at me sleepily.
i jumped on him with excitement,"You are going to help me train."
"What makes you think that I will do it?"
"Because you like giving me a hard time."
He smiled. "You have a point. How are you going to train like that?" I looked down at the clothes that I slept in.
" I will be able to do it, if you don't strike any low blows."
He laughed. "Alright, princess, but first things first." He got up and left the room. When he came back, he was holding black bracelets.
"What's up with the bracelets?"
"They will help you train." He laughed at my confused face. "These bracelets are weights. The best part is that you can set how much you want it to weigh by pressing this button." He pointed to a little hole on the bracelet. It looks like a reset button.
"Where should we begin?"
"With 40 pounds."
"I can do that."
He took a pen and pressed the button,"40," he said to each bracelet. Then, he put one on each wrist and ankle.
"Now as soon as you can move like normal, using these, then we will make it heavier. Shall we begin?"
I nodded and got ready, but he turned to the window and jumped down. I tried walking over, but I could barely get my legs to move. When I finally got to the window, I could see him practicing his punches. Good. He's not going to go easy on me. i steadied myself on the window, before jumping down. I landed on my feet, but stumbled because of the extra weight. I saw Caleb charging at me, faster than he did yesterday. I got my hand up in time to block the blow, but I wasn't fast enough to see his other hand jab me in the stomach.
"You didn't think that I was going to go easy on you?" he asked with a grin on his face.
"When do you ever go easy on me?"
I got back up, and this time, it was my turn. I ran as fast as I could, with the weights and focused my energy on my hands. I swung at his face, but he dodged it and hit back. I blocked it just in time, but I was slow again. I went flying backwards as Caleb kicked me. I tried catching myself, but that wasn't possible. I stood up panting. Moving an inch with these took twice as much energy I would normally use.
"Alright, giving up?" teased Caleb.
"Not even close."
"Good, because I haven't even broken a sweat."
He charged at me again, but this time I was ready. i blocked his punch and used the furthest leg away from him to kick him in the face. he dodged it and grabbed my hand. I saw his smiling face before he threw me over his shoulder. I gasped for breath as his eyes met mine. he bent down to help me up, when i saw my chance to attack. I did a windmill motion to get up and hit him at the same time.
