I woke up at 3am in the morning to the sound of ‘warzone’ by The Wanted playing as my alarm. I was going on holiday! I ran into my little brother’s room and jumped on him.
“Jake, wake up! We’re going on holiday!” I shouted at him. Me and my little brother get on really well so he wouldn’t have minded me waking him up.
“YAY!” He screamed, pushing me off of him and practically jumping out of bed.
“I can’t wait!” I squealed. Just then our father walked in.
“Will you two be quiet, I doubt the neighbours appreciate being woken up at 3am in the morning!” Our father joked with us.
“Sorry dad!” We whispered back in unison.
“It’s alright, now what do you want for breakfast?” He asked the two of us.
“Toast please!” Jake shouted.
“Shhh!” My dad and I turned around and said. “I’ll have to too please dad!” I replied.
I decided to go into my bedroom and get myself ready to go on holiday! It was the 11th of August, so at this time of the morning in England it was quite cold, as you can imagine! But I didn’t care because I was going to Portugal! So I pulled on my denim shorts and a baggy blue vest top, along with a pair of silver sandals.
I pulled my naturally straight brown hair into a messy bun as it looks really casual and will be off of my back when we arrive in Portugal. I placed my sunglasses on the top of my head, just as an accessory, because that always looks quite cool.
I then put on a minimal amount of makeup, a tiny bit of foundation along with a little bit of mascara. I was quite confident about my looks, however, I always feel more confident with a little bit of foundation on.
“Soph! Jake! Breakfast is ready!” My father shouted up the stairs.
“Shhh! The neighbours!” I replied, which caused me, my brother and my mother to burst out laughing.
“Oi! Don’t be cheeky! Or we’ll leave you here and go on holiday without you!” My father teased me.
“Sorry daddy!” I replied in a childish voice, whilst walking down the stairs, hugging my father, then picking up my toast and shoving it in my mouth.
“Someone’s hungry!” My mother said in a shocked tone.
“What? I can’t wait to leave England for three weeks! The quicker we eat, the better!” I explained to my family.
“You do realise the plane is not going to leave any earlier just because you eat your breakfast quickly” My father said.
“Shhh or we’ll leave you here and go without you!” I mocked his voice. He laughed at me and said “Watch it, missy!”.
At about 3:45 there was a knock at the door. It was my Nan and Granddad, all ready to go on holiday!
My mother, father, brother and I all carried our suitcases down the stairs and my father loaded them into the car.
It was now 4 o’clock and we needed to leave for the airport. We live just south of London, just outside it, so Gatwick airport was about a 25 minute drive away.
We we’re in the car, listening to capital and singing along to all the songs that played! My Nan and Granddad were following us down in their own car behind us.
We we’re leaving our cars in the airport car park, which you pay for and they take care of your car for the duration of your holiday. The airport car park is about a 5 minute drive from the airport so you have to get on a bus that takes you to the airport from the car park.
We unloaded all of our suitcases and hand luggage from our cars, before my mum and Nan went to hand the keys to the man at the reception desk. He gave them our tickets which gave us access to the bus, we boarded the bus and the driver stacked our luggage on the luggage rails at the front.
We went and found some seats towards the back of the bus, making ourselves comfortable, and before we knew it we had arrived at the airport and were getting off the bus.
We collected our luggage and found our way to the appropriate check in desk, as it was so early in the morning the queue wasn’t too big and we got to the front pretty quickly.
We had given our luggage in and had to take our hand luggage through the metal detectors. We got through to the other side and went into some of the shops to buy some sweets for our flight.
By then our flight had come up on the screen and we made our way down to the appropriate departure lounge.
After about 20 minutes of waiting we were told we could board the plane for our 3 hour flight. It was now 6:10am; we were due to take off in just 20 minutes.
By the time everyone was on the plane, sat down and they had gone through the safety procedures, it was 6:30am and the plane started to move.
Before we knew it the plane was taking off into the sky and my holiday was about to begin.
