Let me know what you think about this story.
Today is December fifteenth. That means ten more days until Christmas and I have no decorations up or any gifts for my coworkers and boss. I have no family. Before I turned eighteen, I lived with foster families, but I never kept in touch with any of them after I moved out and got my own place.
My "mother" thought of me as an accident, and having an abortion was something she didn't agree with, from what I've been told. So, she carried me to full term, delivered me and sent me off to stay with strangers, while she got to go home like nothing ever happened. I really resent her for that. It was hell living in the system. I was never adopted. I have always been alone and had to fend foe myself, for the most part.
Anyway, back to my problem at hand. I have to go shopping, which requires me to having to walk to the shopping mall. Thankfully, its located in the same plaza as the café.
I only have five people to buy for. My boss Shelly, Melissa and Rachel, a very sweet old woman, Helen, and Justin. We only have to spend like twenty dollars max on each person, but I want to get something special for Justin. He's helped me out a lot these last couple of weeks and I want to show him how grateful I am for his help. Helen is also someone I would like to get something meaningful for. She has taken on extra shifts when it's needed, but the others act like that's her job, rather than her doing us a favor. She reminds me of the sweet grandmas you see on TV. She's very kind, thoughtful and caring. She listens when we need someone to talk to. Thinking about her, I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks. I should call her.
After I ate my lunch, I got dressed for the cold walk ahead. Zipping up my coat, I made sure I had my money, phone and keys.
Stepping out my door, I didn't feel that paranoid about walking during the day. I mean really, who's going to follow me when I could actually see around me? Half way down the road, I saw a white Nissan Maxima coming my way. I stopped walking as it slowed down next to me.
"I don't have your number so instead of calling, I figured I'd just stop by." Justin said. I smiled. He's been hanging out with me, quite a bit lately. "Where are you going?" He asked.
"Christmas shopping." I smiled, sheepishly. "I only have ten days left and I still haven't gotten any presents, yet."
"Get in, we'll go together." He said.
I did as I was told and got into the passengers side. After buckling up, he turned the car around and we headed to the shopping plaza.
"No, this one!" I laughed.
"I am not getting them that! Forget it."
"Come on, it'll be funny. Besides, I'm sure your little followers will love it." I grinned.
"Ashley, I am not buying them gift cards to Victoria Secret. I don't care how much you say they'll love it. They will definitely get the wrong idea."
He did have a point there.
I got my boss a gift card to Longhorn for her and her husband. I got Melissa and Rachel gift cards to a salon and for Helen, I got her a plane ticket to California so she could visit her children and grandchildren for Christmas. Justin let it slip that she wasn't going to be able to see them this year because her son got laid off and her daughter was on Maturity leave because she just gave birth a little over a month ago. Helen had taken time off to spend with her family, and I thought she deserved to see them.
As for Justin, I haven't been able to get anything because he won't leave my side. I think I know how to sneak away though.
"Hey, Justin, I'll be right back. I have to use the restroom."
"Are you sure you don't want me to go with you?" He asked.
I nodded. "Positive." He looked hesitant. "I promise to call you if anything happens. I'll be back in like, fifteen minutes." I said, walking towards the bathrooms. When I was out of his eyesight, I headed to the gaming shop. He mentioned that you wanted a few games so I figured I would get at least one and go to a different store for something else.
After searching the games, I settled on Call of Duty. He was ranting and raving about how he lent that game to a friend and they broke it, but never replaced it. I went to Olympia Sports and got him his very own New York Yankees hoodie. He's been wanting one, but never had the time to go before they close.
When I was finished, I made sure his gifts were hidden well, before calling him. We met up at the food court and grabbed a couple hot dogs and sodas. They had a sitting area but we decided to eat in the car, on our way home.
I hid my purchases in my closet while Justin brought his home. He was coming back to sleep over, again, and since I had an XBOX 360, I figured I would give him the COD game early and save the for Christmas.
So, instead of wrapping the game, I stuck a post it note on the front saying, Merry Christmas, Justin. I placed it on the table, where he would see it as clear as day and went about making Hot Chocolate for when he returned.
There was a soft knock at the door and I looked to see Justin walk through the door. He had a bright smile on his face and I couldn't help but return it. He was a very handsome guy and that smile made him look even more gorgeous.
"Hey, Ash. I come bearing gifts." He said, showing me a small package, wrapped in red Christmas paper.
Ash? That's cute. He gave me a nickname. I like it.
"That's funny, because I have a gift for you, too." I said, nodding towards the table.
His eyes lit up as he ran to see his gift.
"No way! You seriously for me this?" I nodded. "I fucking love you, Ash. Thank you, thank you, thank you." He said, hugging me, tightly.
"You're welcome." I blushed.
"Here. I hope you like it." He handed me the small gift and I opened or rather quickly. It was a white gold necklace, with a purple gem inside a heart.
I gasped. "Thank you, Justin. Its beautiful." I whispered. And it was.
"Here, let me out it on for you." He took it from me and placed it around my neck. His fingers brushing against my skin made a shiver go down my spine. I blushed, yet again. "Its beautiful." He said, staring into my eyes.
I had a feeling he wasn't talking about the necklace and his actions proved just that.
He dipped his head and placed a passionate kiss on my lips.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter.
