Chapter 20

Well, I knew there would be people staring but seriously I felt like every eye in school was on me. And Lola.

Yes, Lola is coming to school with me. Mum and dad agreed that Lola should stay. As long as both of us stay with him during holidays. Lola and I were happy to accept this.

Dad had left early this morning because he needed to be at work.

Mum had driven us because she needed to get Lola enrolled and to sort out some paperwork for me.

Mum was walking ahead of us. Lola and I were walking side by side. She was wearing a short white skirt with a pink tank top on with a pair of pumps, while I was wearing a pair of comfy jeans, a hoodie and my favourite pair of converse.

We were both trying to keep our eyes on the ground until we got to the office.

All I heard were whispers of people saying, "What is going on?" "Are they twins?" "Which one is Adri?"

Once we were in the office I turned to Lola and said, "Do you hear that? It's silence!"

After half an hour Lola was enrolled and we were headed towards History class. I figured out that we had the same classes.

I walked in first and every eye looked up when we came in. I waited with Lola at the front while the teacher looked over her schedule.

"Class we have a new student today. This is Lola, Adri's sister." I walked to my seat beside Jane.

Lola was standing at the front looking nervous, so I waved my hand to her and she walked towards me and sat in the free seat beside me.

When the bell rang I grab Lola and Jane and quickly walk toward the door. Every eye stayed on us throughout that lesson.

"Adri?" We heard after we started our way towards maths. We all turned around. There standing in front of us was Nicole.

She looked confused but I saw a little bit of hope in her eyes.

"What?" I asked.

"Nicole I missed you so much." Lola said and ran and hugged her.

If anything Nicole looked even more confused at this.

"I'll see you in class Lola." I said before walking down the corridor, not before giving Lola a nod. I think she understood because she nodded back.

I may not like Nicole but Lola and her were best friends and if she wanted to continue to be friends she would need to tell her the truth.

At lunch, I was surprised that as soon as I walked through the door I heard my name being shouted. I turned to see Lola sitting with Nicole and the popular crowd.

She waved for me to come over so I grabbed Jane by the elbow and dragged her over with me.

"Hey." I said as I approached.

"Hey, you want to sit with us?" She asked. I could see the pleading look in her eyes. I looked around at everyone else at the table. The all looked like they didn't care either way; Nicole, on the other hand, looked like she would want anything but for us to be sitting with her.

Lola obviously noticed me hesitating when looking at her and moved up so there was room for me and Jane.

I looked at Jane and shrugged before sitting down.

I knew that Lola was popular and confident but I got the feeling that she was nervous about something.

Everyone started back into their conversation. Jane adn I were talking about Mr. Dods new hair cut when I heard someone cough behind us.

Lola and I turned around at the same time. Andrew looked from me to Lola then back again. He did this a few more times before he settled his eyes on me.

"Hey." He said.

"Hey, do you want to sit?" I asked only after I'd realised there wasn't enough room.

"Here you can take my seat, I need to go and talk to the counsellor." Jane piped in. Her parents were making her tell the counsellor today about her being pregnant. Rumours were starting about her being pregnant because the bump was obvious now.

Jane got up and walked off before Andrew sat down.

"You haven't sat with us in a long time Andrew." Nicole broke the silence.

"Nope, I guess I haven't." Andrew just glanced at her.

I was getting really uncomfortable sitting here now and I could tell Andrew was as well. Lola picking up on this decided to change the subject.

"I need to talk to you." Andrew whispered. I just nodded. "Now."

"I'll meet you at the front door at three, okay?" I said whispering in Lola's ear. She looked suddenly nervous again.

She nodded before Andrew and I got up and headed towards the door.

"So..." I said when we walked into an empty classroom.

"What is she doing here?" He asked, sounding angry.

"She goes to school here now. She is going to live with mum and me."

"Because she wants to stay!"

He started to pace back and forth. What was his problem?

"What's wro-" I was cut off by Andrew marching over to me and pushing his lips against mine.

We stayed like that for a moment then he pulled back. "Don't ever leave me again." He whispered in my ear.

"Promise." I whispered back.
