Chapter Fifteen: Just A Memory

I could feel my vision go blurry and I did the thing that we shared many times... but it might bring him back.

I kissed him.

He wasn’t responsive. I was covered in my own blood and the building was falling apart. I was desperate. But I remembered something. “You promised that you’d come back for me and you did.” My voice was becoming fuzzy to me. “You came back for me so I’m not leaving you now.”

His eyes suddenly snapped open. “Rebecca?” He asked.

I smiled and nodded; but that was it... I blacked out. “You’re safe.”  I whispered.

I could hear voices buzz around me but I couldn’t quite register it. I woke up in my bed in Daniel’s house. As my eyes fluttered open Daniel’s face came in focus. “Daniel.” I whispered.

He breathed out a sigh of relief. “Rebecca you’re awake.” He said happily.

I scratched my head and I saw Cassie stood by me and I pointed to her. “What, how?” I asked completely confused.

Daniel smiled. “You that’s all needed.” I cocked an eyebrow. “That’s the true strength of my partner; everyone I killed you gave them back their lives if they deserved it.”

My eyes widened. “I... did?” I asked. He nodded. “But I didn’t know.”

He laughed. “Of course you didn’t! You were in a state like I was before. You made everything better.” He kissed the top of my forehead. “Now we can live in peace.”

I smiled to my new family around me I looked at him. “But it wouldn’t have happened at all if it weren’t for me.” I said sadly looking down.

He lifted my chin up with his finger. “Never think like that.”

~~ When they turned 20 ~~

I was sat in the garden as I couldn’t sleep. I sat by the little pond we had. I wrapped the sawl around me. I heard rustling behind me. “Hello Daniel.” I said as I turned to see him grinning at me. “How did you know I was here?” I asked.

He shrugged. “You weren’t sleeping next to me.” He said. He sat behind me and held me to his chest. “What’s wrong?” He asked.

I shook my head. “Nothing and that’s the whole thing. My mother lives with us, Marco’s alive along with everyone else and the bad people are away in jail. Nothing’s wrong.”

He cocked an eyebrow; not buying it. “So why can’t you sleep?” He asked.

I touched his cheek. “Whenever I look at you, I’m afraid you’ll just disappear. Everything may be alright but I can still remember it all. How you looked when you thought I was hurt, the people being ripped apart and reduced to ash, I can remember it so clearly.” I said softly.

He rubbed my shoulder. “That’s all it is though; it’s nothing more than a memory.

I cocked an eyebrow this time. “And you’ll never leave me right?”

He smiled. “Do you really think I’ll be able to even if I wanted to? You’re stuck with me for all eternity.”

I blew my hair out of my face. “Being immortal sucks sometimes.” I said sarcastically.

He hit me lightly on the shoulder. “Well at least we have plenty of time to have kids.” He said whilst wiggling his eyebrows. I hit him this time. “It’s alright... I can wait.” He said.

I grinned. “Not for as long as you’d think.” I said.

His eyes widened and pointed to my stomach and I nodded. He looked like he was going to pass out. Until he leapt up from the ground in joy. “WE’RE HAVING A BABY!!!” He yelled at the top of his lungs.

I face palmed. “Say that any louder why don’t you.”
