Everything about this kiss just felt right. His lips moved with mine perfectly. His hands found their way to my waist as mine snaked around his neck. All I could feel were his lips, as well as all of the fireworks going off and the butterflies having a hay day in my stomach. The kiss may have lasted only a minute or two but it felt much longer than that. When he pulled away I opened my eyes to find his blue ones searching mine. I think he was searching for some hint that I liked what happened. And trust me, I more than liked it. So to reassure him I pecked him lightly on the lips before detangling myself from him.
“We should eat our breakfast before it gets cold. Then I need to clean the kitchen.” I went to go sit at the kitchen table but soon noticed that Niall wasn’t following me.
“Niall, is everything okay?” I stepped in front of him and saw his face.
“Uh, yeah, sorry, just spacing out.”
“Okay, well let’s eat. We still have to decide the winner.” I smirked.
“Oh, I know I’m going to win.” He winked at me.
“We’ll just see about that Blondie.”
“Let me try yours.” He said.
I cut off a piece of my masterpiece which had butter, cinnamon sugar, whipped cream and a little syrup. As I moved to put the piece on his plate he opened his mouth as he had on our date. I fed him the French toast and waited for his synopsis.
“Hmm, very good, very good. I still think I win.” He smirked.
“Oh yeah, give me a bite of yours then!” His was loaded with who knows what. I think I saw Nutella, chocolate sauce, syrup, whipped cream, sugar and maybe some flour? Who knows. He fed me the bite and I nearly gagged. It was horrible! I somehow managed to swallow it.
“What’d you put on that? It’s disgusting!” I choked out.
“Oh come on, it can’t be that bad.” I watched him take a bite, his eyes bulge and gag it down.
I raised my eyebrows, “Oh yeah?”
I heard him mumble something. “What’s that?” I asked.
“You win.” He mumbled louder.
“Still can’t hear you.” I smirked.
“YOU WIN!” He half shouted.
I laughed and slid my plate to him, “Here, you can have these, I’ll get some more.”
“Thanks. So what are we doing on our date tomorrow?” He asked before shoveling a huge bite into his mouth.
“That’s for me to know and you to find out.” I winked.
As we ate we continued to chat idly. After Niall ate 6 pieces of toast he decided it was time to clean up.
“I can clean this, if you want to go get that whipped cream and strawberry sauce out of your hair the bathroom is down the hall. You’re welcome to take a shower or just use the sink.” I grabbed a cloth and started wiping everything down.
“Thanks, I’ll be back in a few minutes to help.” He smiled.
As I was cleaning I had a chance to think. I just kissed him. Holy. Crap. The butterflies in my stomach started just thinking about it. He was so great; I really wanted to spend more time with him. I can’t wait for our date tomorrow. What could we do? Hmmm, I know just the thing! We could drive out to Pingvellir and have a picnic then go see Geysir and Gullfoss. That’d be perfect.
Just as I made the decision Niall walked in with wet hair sticking in every direction. I had to stifle a laugh, even though he looked adorable.
“Here, I’ll finish cleaning, you can go get that chocolate out of your hair.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I helped make the mess, I should help clean it up. It’s the least I can do. Plus you won’t be able to reach the stuff on the ceiling.” He smirked, taking the towel from me.
“Hey! I can’t help that I’m short.” I stuck my tongue out at him.
He pulled me into a hug, “I think it’s adorable that you’re short.” He leaned down and kissed my forehead.
“Thank you. I don’t want to get any of this chocolate sauce on you so I’m gonna go shower really quick.” I was probably blushing a bit.
Ten minutes later I walked out with clean hair and I had a clean kitchen.
“Wow, you’re fast. Thanks.” The kitchen was spotless.
“No problem, I better get going so you can run your errands.” This time his smile was sad.
“Yeah, where are you staying?” I asked.
“The Hilton, it’s on some street I can’t pronounce.” He smirked.
“Sudurlandsbraut, I know where it is. I stayed there the first time I came to Iceland.” I smiled, “I’ll pick you up at 10am tomorrow?” By this time we were standing by my front door.
“Sure, I’ll see you then.” He hugged me, so I stood on the tips of my toes to wrap my arms around his neck. He pulled away and gave me a light kiss. Then opened the door and walked out. I was left standing there, shocked but incredibly happy.
I really need to go to the grocery store so I threw on some high heeled boots and headed out the door.
A/N Things are getting good! Don’t get too comfortable with this situation. Something’s about to shake things up!
By the way, Pingvellir is the continental drift. The North Atlantic and European tectonic plates are slowly moving apart causing a rift. They drift 1cm a year. Geysir is a geyser and it’s something like 10 times bigger than Old Faithful in America. Gullfoss is a very large waterfall that has three tiers to it. Together these make up the ‘Golden Circle’ of Iceland. It’s a very touristy thing to do but they’re so beautiful, if I lived there I would go to them a lot.
