Chapter 9

Walking into my flat, I saw the lads sitting on my couch. I shut the door behind me, watching as the four familiar faces turned my direction.

"What?" I asked walking into the living room, where they were sitting.

Louis said, "So there's a girl?"

I nodded obviously blushing.

Louis got up and ran to me giving me a hug, "Congrats Niall!"

I smiled hugging him back. He let go and ran back to the couch. I sat myself on a chair facing them.

"Who's the bird?" Liam asked.

I grinned widely, but tried not to. It was hard not to. Whenever I thought about her, a smile appeared on my face. "Her name's Keegan."

Harry raised an eyebrow, "Keegan? As in Audrey Keegan, the Olympian?"

I nodded.

"Oh my gosh!" Liam said running to give me a hug.

It was nothing, It was just a date.." I said, even though it wasn't just a date. It was way more than that. I had true feelings for her that I couldn't shake off.

When I got back to the Olympic Village, Jenny, Dani, Kayley, and Ashton were making cookies in the kitchen that we shared in our apartment.

"How was your date?" Dani asked me.

I freezed walking through the door forgetting I told them.

I smiled and said, "Really, really good! But we're just friends. It's not like I have time for a boyfriend anyway."

They all nodded their heads. Kayley was stirring some cookie batter while she said, "What'd you do?"

"We ate at a cute Chinese restaurant, I had a ton of fun. I really enjoyed my night out. We ordered a bunch a food and tested which one was the best," I said.

Going to sleep later that night, I couldn't stop thinking about him. I wanted to be more than friends. He would be the perfect boyfriend. I can't have a boyfriend though, I don't have the time to be in a commited relationship. I truly love him, but I don't want to become a 'thing' and risk breaking his heart. I just can't right now, we have to remain friends. That's all that I can have right now, a friend.

˚˚The Next Day˚˚

After getting ready for the Women's Individual All-Around, which I fortunately made it into, I stretched with Dani. Her and I were the only two that made it into the All-Around for the USA and we felt oddly accomplished. We were talking about focusing ourselves, and keeping our head in the game. I had to erase Niall from my mind in order to do my best. Somehow, he made my heart beat a mile a minute.

Walking into the gym I focused myself, I had to do my best, and remember everything I practiced.

During vault, he completely slipped my mind as I got second place out of 24 places.

During uneven bars, that's when he entered my mind again. I tied for ninth.

Beam was even worse, I got tenth. He just kept appearing in my mind. He wouldn't leave.

After my beam routine, I looked into the crowd. My eyes immediatley locked with Niall's. He made it! He was watching me perform this whole time! My heart sped up again as he gave me a thumbs up. I flashed him a quick sincere smile. Somehow, I felt like I needed to be with him, even though we were just friends. Nothing more.

Walking onto the floor for my floor routine, I looked up at him again. Even though he gave me butterflies, it was calming and I knew nothing could go wrong while he was here.

Finishing my routine, I knew I did good, infact, I did great. My best performance yet.

After all the other routines for floor done by different countries, I looked up at the screen.

1. IZBASA Sandra Raluca

2. KEEGAN Audrey

3. KOMOVA Victoria

4. DUNLASS Danielle

5. FERRARI Vanessa

Dani ran to me, giving me a big hug. I looked up at Niall, whos face was beaming. I could tell he was happy for me.

Minutes later the overall scores came up.

4. KEEGAN Audrey-USA

5. IZBASA Sandra Raluca-ROU

A feeling of sadness came over me as I realized I didn't win Gold, Silver, or Bronze. But other than that, I'm just glad I got into the top 5. Dani's face lit up, realizing she won Gold in the hardest event for Artistic Gymnastics. I hugged her tightly, congratulating her.

Walking out of the North Greenwich Arena and waiting on the concrete for the bus to come, Niall ran to me, hugging me tightly and spinning me around.

"Keegan! I'm so proud of you!" He put me down and grabbed my cheek, leaning in to kiss me. His hand felt soft placed on my cheek. He gently leaned in half way. I got lost in his eyes. They were beautiful, and I could get lost in them very quickly. I relaxed as he leaned in more. He looked deep into my eyes as I searched his for an emotion. Realizing what was happening, I turned my face and pulled away from him.

He looked confused and sad.

"We're just friends," I said, "I don't have time for a boyfriend."

I could see tears starting to form in his eyes, "Why not?

"I don't have the time Niall. With all the training. I just don't have time with my career."

"Well I don't have the time either, but I'll make some for you." He said romantically.

"Wait, what do you mean?" I asked him.

"I have something I have to tell you, Keegan" He said.
