Chapter 7

Makayla's POV

I ran and ran and ran without looking back, feeling my anger slowly being let out. Soon enough, I ended up in a peaceful and beautiful clearing without even realizing it.

I was mesmerized by the scenery and the serene water in the lake. I somehow managed to put 'it' back under control. I know 'it' is getting madder every time I refuse to let 'it' free.

I took a seat under a shady tree, making myself comfortable. I was enjoying the view and breathing in the fresh forest air when I started thinking about my life and my secret.

How long can I keep the secret? Will my life be any different now that I've moved? Will 'he' be able to find me?

The sound of a twig snap brought me back to reality. If it wasn't for my heightened senses, I wouldn't have heard that.

I turned my head towards the source of the sound in alert but relaxed when I saw it was the guy in my classes, or should I say my mate.

Our eyes lock and I suddenly felt horrible. It's either I reject him to keep both of us safe or I can accept him and see what the future brings.

I quickly pushed my thoughts away. Now's not the time to be thinking about this.

We soon started to chat and I learnt his name was Xavier. Damn his name sounds so hot! I could say it all the time. In fact... Xavier, Xavier, Xavier, Xavier.

I can't believe someone who I just met can make me smile so much. I don't if it's the mate bond or just the fact that he's an amazing person.

"Well Xavier," she started and I shuddered in delight when she said my name. My name sounds so good rolling off her tounge. I wonder if she feels the bond. I hope she accepts me.

" Well Xavier," I say, testing out his name and smirked when I see him shudder. Who knew I already had this effect on him.

"As you may already know, my name's Makayla Haven Midnight. I'm turning eighteen this year. I love running, drawing and uhh... Soccer," I say smiling shyly, blushing a little at my admission.

Hold the fuck up! Since when did I blush?!?! Oh gawd no! He's changing me!

"What are you thinking about?" Xavier asked, dragging me back from my inner rant.

" Nothing," I say quickly and blushed because he caught me zoning out.

"You look really adorable when you blush," Xavier said staring at me.

I stared back at him, getting loss in his hazel eyes. He stated to lean in and I found myself leaning closer to him. His lips are only an inch apart from mine. His fresh minty breath is caressing my face as he moves in closer.

"Where the hell are you, sis! I have been looking everywhere for you," I jerked back when I heard Mason yell in my head. Ugh! Way to ruin the moment. Asshole! I moved away from a disappointed looking Xavier.

' I'm heading home now. No need to go all ape shit on me," I mind link Mason and cut him off. I don't need his ramblings right now.

I clear my throat. " I'm sorry Xavier but I gotta go," I say wincing when I saw a look of sadness and disappointment flash through his eyes before he covered it up.

"It's okay Makayla but can we exchange numbers?" He asks looking hopeful. Aww... He looks so cute and hot at the same time. Is that even possible?

I think about Xavier's request for a moment and thought 'why not?'

We exchanged our numbers but before I could leave, I felt a pair of warm strong arms wrap around me.

Xavier crushed me to him and whispered in my ear, " Goodbye Makayla! I'll text you goodnight later, gorgeous,"

I flushed pink and nodded, unable to say anything. Damn he's definitely straight forward.

I left the forest and ran home in an undeniably quick speed.

When I arrived home, the first thing that caught my eye was Mason's Porche. Time to face the music. Good thing mom and dad aren't home yet.

I took a deep breath and opened the door.

"Makayla Haven Midnight! Explain to me why you beat up a she wolf and just up and left!" Mason's voice boomed.

Ugh! This is gonna be a long explanation.
