This is a fan fiction of the Avengers MOVIE. I cannot stress this enough. I don't read the comic books, I am just a MASSIVE fan of the Marvel movies.

Hey guys so, for all of you who are new fans, you might wanna read Metallic Charms before reading this because if you don't, things probably won't make sense. That being said, it might be a good idea if you read the short story companion called A Star Spangled Heart.

Prologue: Barnes
~~~~~~~~~~~{Third Person}~~~~~~~~~~~
////August, 1996////
"We found her." A woman with curly blonde hair stepped into the room, joining Director Fury. Karen Barton stood in front of Director Fury's desk with a determined look on her face, dressed in her S.H.I.E.L.D gear.
"Who?" Fury raised an eyebrow.
"The Barnes girl." The woman replied, "Noel Barnes."
"Is she an ideal candidate?" Fury asked, getting out of his chair and leaning against the wall.
"She's perfect." Karen Barton replied.
Karen Barton had never been a sentimental person, neither had her husband Leonard, but when it came to their child they threw themselves over him to protect him.
Fury wanted to test out the serum on their son, Clint, but neither would allow it. Instead, the struck a deal. If they found another viable candidate for the experiment, they'd chose them over Clint.
"How are we going to explain to the girl's parents?" Fury asked,
"No need, Sarah and John Barnes died three months ago in a house fire. Leo and I are adopting her to make things easier." Karen explained,
"How old?"
Karen replied, "Three. The doctors say she can start the 'treatment' as soon as she turns four."
"Brilliant." Fury said in an easy voice before Karen left and Nick drowned himself in his sorrows and guilt. How the hell had the Council convinced him to do this?

Authors Note: Woo! Prologue. It's really short, sorry. But chapter 1 is being posted really soon. :)
Originally, I was going to post this later tonight but turns out, I'm going out for dinner so I was like, 'hey, let's post it now!' so yeah. When I get back, I will post chapter 1!
So, Nick Fury feels guilty! And Karen seems like a bit of a bitch. But she dies anyway so yay!!! XD
If you guys are confused, Noel Barton is the same person as Noel Barnes -remember, she was adopted by the Bartons!
