Chapter 41

The next day, the members of the Dark Moon Pack were long since on their way to the Royal Outland Silver Blood Pack. There was a distinct tension in the air between the Alpha and the Luna. So much so, they were in separate vehicles.

Daemon's mind had been racing since the phone call days prior. Ophelia seemed like she was hiding something with how vehemently she didn't want to travel. But there was also the fact that she despised Aylin in the first place. That deep seeded hatred was something he didn't quite understand.

He hoped the King would be able to solve some of the mystery, so everyone could get on with their lives.

"How close are we, David?"

"Close enough. Probably an hour away."

Pausing for a moment, he asked the burning question in his heart. "Do you think Aylin is responsible for what happened to our pack years ago?"

"I don't know if I can answer that." David fidgeted in his seat.

"Talk to me as your friend. Not as your Alpha."

Sighing, his eyes never left the road. "As your friend, I think what you did to her was the shittiest thing a wolf could do to their mate. Just because Ophelia was giving it away, she convinced you that it was all her fault, and she was worthless. Personally, I never had a problem with her. Do I think it's her fault? No, I don't. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. But, what is wrong is placing blame on one person, solely because you were told to."

Daemon was speechless hearing his friend speak that way.

"Now, you are going to have to face facts. You lost to the Rogue King, and you will never get her back. You're stuck with some cock tease now. With all due respect, Alpha."

"So, what you're saying is: I fucked up."

"Big time."

The remainder of the ride to the pack was silent. Daemon was stewing in the harsh words thrown at him by his Beta.

Ezekiel ordered everyone to go back to their homes for the time being, until the Dark Moon Pack Members were gone. Some of them were hesitant, were assured that as long as they remained in their homes inside the walls, there would be no issue.

Every warrior was on alert, ready to fight at a moment's notice.

Saying goodbye to Keon and his mother, Hadley, she watched from a distance as they said their goodbyes to a man. A husband, a father. It was almost as if it was their last goodbye.

Tears pooled in her eyes watching the exchange. What gave her hope was the smile on the boys face when he hugged his father.

"What's wrong, baby?"

"Can't you feel it in the air, Zeke? Something's coming."

Those ominous words made the pit of his stomach twist. "For now, let's deal with the Dark Moon Pack. I think once we tell Daemon Morris what we've learned, things will change."

Nodding slightly, they went inside to get ready.

Looking through her clothes, Aylin was suddenly very aware that she may not have anything that would fit being a Queen. Anxiety started to take hold of her. Pulling at her hair, she was pacing back and forth in front of her wardrobe.

"Aylin, you alright?" Quill's voice came from the other side of the door.

"I-I have nothing to wear."

Slipping in the door, he saw the distressed girl pacing back and forth, practically pulling her hair from its roots. "Take it easy, Ay. I have something for you anyway. It's from Zeke."

Pulling something out form behind his back, Aylin's eyes were mesmerized. It was a beautiful royal purple dress. Lace sleeve, knee length, with a sweetheart neckline. "What the--" She couldn't even believe her eyes. There was no way that she would ever have dreamed of having a dress that beautiful. "Zeke picked this out for me?"

"Actually, he asked Audrey to make it for your wedding ceremony. I suppose now is as good a time as any." He could help but smirk a little seeing how fascinated she was. "Alright, enough of that. Get your butt in the shower. They'll be here soon."

Showering fast, Aylin was beyond excited to wear something specially made for her. Then she got anxious again, realizing she had no make-up and her hair was not something to be desired. Panicking again, she exited the bathroom, when the dress caught her eye.

Royal purple.

Running her fingers over the material, it was so soft and luxurious. A sudden realization fell upon her.

She is royalty. Completely, and undisputed royalty.

Taking a deep breath, she steeled her nerves.

Putting on her bra and panties, there was a knock at the door.

"Majesty, it's Hadley."

"Oh, come in." Stepping into the room, she kept her down. "It's alright. You can raise your head." Slowly raising it, she smiled slightly. "What can I do for you?"

"The King requested I help you get ready."

Her heart swelled hearing that. "Well, thank you. I would like that."

Quite some time passed. Hadley expertly did Aylin's make-up, and gave her hair elegant waves coming down over her shoulders.

A sharp knock hit the door, making the two women jump.

"It's Ezekiel." Hadley opened the door, bowing to her king. "Is she ready?"

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Turning around, Ezekiel was caught off guard with how beautiful his mate looked. The dress adhered to her curves perfectly, the make-up wasn't over done, and accentuated her features, and her hair was perfect. "You look so beautiful."

Bashful, Aylin looked away. She had to. Her mate looked so handsome, it was almost indescribable. He was wearing grey slacks, perfectly creased, a white button down, top button open, a blue blazer. His hair was gelled back, and the stubble on his face was just enough to give him a shadow.

"The Queen just needs her shoes," Hadley squeaked out. Placing them on the floor in front of her, Hadley helped Aylin into her shoes, while maintaining eye contact with her mate. "All set, Your Majestys."

Kindly looking at Hadley, he said, "Thank you."

Bowing slightly, Aylin then turned to her. "I can't thank you enough for this. Truly. Thank you, Hadley." Overcome with the urge, Aylin unexpectedly gave her a deep hug.

"Anytime, Your Majesty." Hadley left the room, leaving the two alone.

Ezekiel reached in his pocket pulling out a small box. He debated with himself about whether to give it to Aylin or not, but he decided he should because there would be no woman in the world who could make him happy. "I have something for you."

Opening the small box, there was a gorgeous ring inside. Set in white gold, there was a blue diamond in the middle, surrounded by smaller diamonds around it, going down the sides

The walked out, and down to the throne room.

Sitting in their respective chairs, they waited patiently for the members of the Dark Moon Pack to arrive.

Giving each other one last look, it was announced they arrived.
