Rose's PoV

==Time skip: three days later...==

John hasn't left his room in a while. I'm getting concerned and after what Karkat told me just a few days ago, I'm starting to think this could escalate into something more serious. I've checked on John every few hours or so, even late at night. I only have Karkat's version of the story and I'm hesitant to ask John or Dave their sides, but if what I think is true, we could be in for a lot of drama. Drama that we don't have time for. This whole situation doesn't need to be happening over something so simple.  I understand that they were best friends before all of this stuff happened, but I think three days is more than enough time to sort stuff out, especially for boys.

Why must I always figure stuff out for everyone? It seems like I'm the problem solver of the group. The group of humans, that is. Though, Roxy and Jane had potential, except Roxy was drunk the majority of the time and spewing useless (and sometimes gross) information. Maybe that's just me and Roxy is more helpful then I think. I pause outside of John's bedroom door, checking the doorknob to see if the door was unlocked. Locked, just as I expected. I knock.

"Hey, John? You in there?" I call.

"Yeah.." I hear footsteps aproaching the door, then the door unlocking. John opened it, his sad expression deepening. He looks down. "What do you want now..."

"I'm just checking on you. Why don't you come out of your room for a while? You can't stay there forever, you know."

"Yeah I know, I just... can't believe it." He slightly waves his hands in a confused and bewildered way, raising his eyebrows for a moment to emphasize this. He pauses, as if he was unsure of what to say next.

"Can't believe what?" I ask, though I know exactly what he's trying to say. He sighs, taking a few steps foreward to throw an arm in the direction of Dave's room, frustrated. "Just say what you're trying to say and stop being so cryptic about it."

"I'd prefer it if we'd all please refrain from saying either of their names around me. At least for a while." I give a hesitant nod. I do wish he would just get over it already, though. "Look, Rose, I'm sorry about all of this, it's just..." He shook his head and let his arms fall loosely to his sides in defeat. "I didn't expect this at all..."

"I understand that it was unexpected and shocking, but sometimes stuff like this happens. You just need to move on." I say. John nods.

"I-- I know..." He pauses, furrowing his brow for a second before snapping his fingers and smiling. "I have an idea." I roll my eyes mentally. "I can try to win Dave back from Karkat!" John whispers loudly. I bite my lip.

"That does not sound like a good idea. I think you should--"

" No, Rose, you don't get it! Obviously, Karkat doesn't like Dave yet! This is my opportunity to get him back before Karkat gets attatched."

"No. That is an awful idea! That will only make this situation worse!"

"Well I think it'll solve the problem. I've known Dave longer than Karkat." He sounds hateful.

"We don't have time for this. Some things are better off left alone."

"Uh huh, and some things are better off... helped?"

"John, I'm telling you, you do not want to do this!"

"And I'm saying yeah, I want to do it."

"This petty argument could last longer than it will take to solve the problem. I have to go. If you interfere with this, I may have to watch you more closely."

    "Do it! I don't give a sh--"

"Just stop. Now, are you going to talk to everyone else or not?"

"No. Go away. You've checked on me, I'm fine. You can leave now." John slams the door in my face. Rude. This has to stop soon.
