"Ryujinie!" Jisoo cheers as I enter the small café we work at with our boss, Jisung, and our other worker and friend, Areum. I chuckle as I greet the three, heading over to the piano in the front corner of the smallish area opposite of the door.
"Our lovely little musician is here!" Areum sings happily as she dances around the back of the counter as she preps for the day.
"And we are open people!" Jisung exclaims as he flips the open sign. I fake a smile to them all as I sit down at the piano after placing my tips jar on top of it.
The first hour go by normally as usual, our typical customers coming and going as I play the piano nonstop. As always, Jisung stays in the back of the little shop working while Areum and Jisoo work the counter with Jisoo taking orders, manning the register while Areum makes the drinks.
Keeping eyes on people that pass the shop as always, I notice a new face stepping into the shop. It's not the first one of the day, nor is it unusual, but I'm generally curious just to keep tabs on our usual people.
I don't keep my eyes on him long, though I definitely don't miss the fact that he seems slightly familiar and that he definitely is good looking. Returning my attention to the piano and people passing by as he orders, I don't notice his eyes constantly glancing up at me.
I force myself to ignore the feeling of familiarity from the man that's entered, knowing that anyone I'd known from my father's gang had been either locked up or mostly are dead by now. Not to mention the fact that anyone I'd known back then weren't near my age at all. It's been eight years...
The sound of a table falling catches my attention as I immediately snap to my feet, Jisoo and Areum instantly squealing in surprise and fear. Looking in the direction of the sound, two men are standing with a stare down as the table they'd been sat at toppled.
"You're a goddamn dick! It's your fault!" One of the men shouts, finally punching the other guy. With an eye roll, I walk over to the two of them and attempt to pull the one who threw the punch back.
"Sir, I'm going to need -" Before I could finish my words, the guy swiftly turned to me and gave me a punch as well.
"Shut the fuck up, little bitch." He snarls before turning back to the man. I could feel my lip beginning to swell, knowing I had a busted lip. Feeling my anger build up, I pulled myself back up onto my feet. However, as I stand, I noticed the seemingly familiar man beginning to make his way over to us.
"Sir, please just return to your seat. I'd really feel terrible if you were to get hurt." I kindly request. He looks at me in surprise, seeming to let his eyes roam my face in amusement before speaking.
"You do realize you're the one with a busted lip, correct? You're the pretty little girl here, not me." He chuckles softly, cocking an eyebrow at me. I simply give a small smile.
"It's nothing I can't handle, Sir." I tell him, causing him to nod with a shrug as he takes a few steps back. With that, I give him a nod before turning back around with my hand already clenched into my fist at my side.
"Gentlemen! I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask the two of you to leave." I snap loudly, catching their attention. They both chuckle at me, looking at me in amusement.
"And what exactly are you going to do about it, sweetheart?" The same guy who'd hit me questions. I smirk.
"I don't think you'd like to find out. I suggest the two of you just leave before I have to remove you both myself." I inform them. They both roll their eyes before continuing their argument.
"Suit yourself, boys." I mutter with a shrug before stepping in. Kicking the one guy in the stomach, I grab the other guy by his arm and get him on the ground with his arm twisted tightly behind his back.
"You crazy bitch! What the fuck?!" The guy whom I currently have pinned down exclaims while his friend rushes out. I simply chuckle at his response. Leaning down, I let my face come close to his ear so that I can whisper something without the familiar guy hearing.
"I highly suggest you calmly walk the fuck out of here and not return. You and your friend are no longer welcome here. If I see the two of back here ever again, I won't hesitate to make you regret it." I growl in his ear, my voice a mere whisper level before tightening my hold on his arm before releasing him.
Stepping back, he stumbles to his feet whilst nodding his head at me before hurrying out of the café and then running away as soon as he steps foot outside the door. Once I'm sure he's gone, I make my way back to the piano.
"You're quite impressive with how you handled that." The familiar guy says as he leans against the piano whilst I begin playing it.
"Here." He says, holding his hand out. Frowning, I look up to see him holding out a silky beautiful navy blue handkerchief. Though, I also spot an M.S. carefully stitched into one of the corners. Giving him a small smile, I shake my head.
"That's quite alright. I'll be fine, Sir." I respond kindly as I look up at him. Though, I feel my blood run cold as I finally connect my eyes with his for the first time. If it weren't for the confusing initials on his kerchief, I'd be damn certain that's...
"Yoongi, please. The name is Yoongi. Are you perhaps busy some time this evening?" He asks, smiling with a hint of a smirk on his lips. Out of nowhere, I feel my hearts pace begin racing as my head feels as though it's completely spinning. I can feel the anxiety clawing at my chest and throat, merely at his name that I nearly missed the question altogether.
"I'm afraid I'm not available, if that's what you're wondering, Sir." I answer calmly, beginning to play the piano once again. He frowns at my answer, clearly not liking it.
"And why would that be, kitten?" He questions in a kind tone, smirking as he leans further onto the piano. For whatever reason, hearing him call me kitten isn't bothering, which might be the oddest thing yet. If it weren't for the fact that he just so happens to be my old ex best friend that I've not seen in thirteen years.
"I'm not a kitten, Sir. And that's not of your concern either." I respond, trying to keep my cool.
"Boyfriend?" He questions, still smirking. I roll my eyes.
"Nope."
"Second job?"
"That would also happen to be a no."
"Then I don't see why you can't let me take you to dinner this evening." He informs me, still smirking.
"Simply because I'm not interested, Sir. You seem kind and all, but I'm not interested in going out." I once again kindly decline. He sighs.
"Listen here, kitten. You're mine. Like it or not. I'll be back here on Monday once again. You've got the weekend to think things over. Hopefully you'll reconsider your answer." He whispers as he leans closer to me.
I force myself to maintain a calm and unfazed expression all the while. He gives me one last smirk, leaning down to kiss my forehead before dropping something into my tip jar and walking out of the shop altogether.
