"Is it a boy or girl."

"Well it's a girl but Skylar."

"Your baby has a very faint heartbeat, and by the look of it, she has the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. We need to take her out now."

"But I'm only 5 months!" I cried as tears fell down my cheek.

"We have the materials. We just need her out now."

"Can you get someone to get Blake. I need him here. Now." She nodded and ten minutes later returned with Blake.

"I'll let you two talk you only have a few minutes before the baby has no heartbeat at all. Then we risk you and the baby turning" I nodded and looked at Blake.

"If she dies inside of you she may turn then you'll turn." Blake said as a tear rolled down his cheek. I nodded.

"But then I'm using half of their resources so they can take her out."

"So replace them when you go on a run." We argued back and forth for two minutes before finally deciding. The nurse walked in.

"Are you two going to take the risk of the baby dying and turning or take the risk of taking her out and keeping her in the room that is being sterilized right now." She asked. I looked at Blake and he grabbed my hand and squeezed.

"We're going to take her out." The nurse nodded and had me walk to a small room with a table, and surgical instruments. I sat on the table and took my shirt and pants off like the nurse said. I laid down and relaxed Blake sat on a chair next to my head as they prepped me. They were moving very fast and there were only two nurses. Within three minutes they were ready to put me under. I didn't want to be put under but in order for them to do what they needed to do and for me not to panic more than I already was. They put the mask on and I took deep breaths until I started to fade. When I woke up I was in a different room and Blake was there with tears running down his face. I slowly sat up and looked over. "Blake, what's going on?" he looked over and hugged me.

"The baby is fine. For now." He said. You just had a c-section. You aren't going to be doing anything for about two months and the month after it's light work, then you can start your work in the field that you chose." I sighed, then nodded.

"Can I see her?"

"I'll get the nurse, she's in an incubator for a couple weeks." I nodded. A couple minutes later the nurse walked in with Blake and the baby. The nurse wheeled her to right next to the bed. A tear fell down my cheek when I looked at her. She was very underdeveloped. She had wires sticking out of her and I knew she wouldn't make it long. Especially not in this world.

"She has a pretty strong heartbeat. However a lot of her organs are still underdeveloped. We need to monitor her very closely until she is able to breath better on her own." I nodded and looked at her she opened her eyes briefly and closed them again. In the split second I saw them I knew she was going to look just like me, she had deep grey eyes and the beginning of black hair. I looked at the nurse then back to Blake,

"Can we have a minute?" I asked the nurse and she nodded. After she left the room Blake looked at me.

"Why do we need a minute?"

"I can't look at my daughter when she's like this. She's fragile, she very premature and I'm not sure she is going to make it." I said as tears rolled down my face.

"Skylar what are you saying?"

"I'm saying she may not make it. Shes 21 weeks. That is 16 weeks early, her lungs aren't fully developed." I said.

"So you're saying what that we pull the plug?" Blake asked half yelling.

"No, I'm saying that we need to be prepared in the event that she doesn't pull through."

"Sky, she is your daughter. If she is anything like her mother she'll be just fine." Blake said sitting on my bed.

"I know," I started, deciding to change the subject I continued with, "When will I get discharged?"

"Well today is friday and the nurse said 3 to five day so either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. She also said no hard labor until January."

"What's today?"

"November 12." He said and I sighed, this was going to be a long two months.
