The most ordinary days are the ones where the unexpected changes things forever.

"Remind me why we're here again?" Finn groans taking a mouthful from his coffee.

I lean towards his face, giving him a look warning him to behave himself. "Because we're being good friends, Emma said she really likes this one"

Finn scoffs "First of all, I'm not her friend and secondly she has a new favourite every week"

I thump him up the back of the head narrowing my eyes at him, leaning closer to whisper yell "Stop being such a drama queen, I know you don't like her but at least be nice to the poor guy"

Finn scowls at me, rubbing the back of his head "You owe me for dragging me to this"

"If you don't play nice I'm not setting you up that guy I met at work" I warn, raising my brows at him.

Finn raises his brows back at me "He better look like Johnny Depp and have three legs, or you still owe me"

I narrow my eyes into slits "Remind me why I'm friends with you again?"

He grins "Because you need me to make sure you don't look like you were dressed at a homeless shelter"

I fold my arms over my chest leaning back against the booth indignantly "I do not look homeless"

Finn gives me an exaggerated earnest look "Of course not honey, it's only your wardrobe that looks homeless"

Before I can thump my idiot of a best friend again, we're interrupted by the reason I had to almost promise a kidney to Finn to come with me today.

"He'll be here soon" Emma gushes manically, standing in front of our table, smoothing her hands down the front of her uniform.

Emma is a beautiful girl, long Auburn hair, fair skin and big doe eyes, she's a free spirit some would say.

Others would just say that she's a drifter with no life ambitions, but I guess it's how you look at it.

For now, her goals seem to be not getting fired from the waitressing job at this diner, considering it's her seventh job in as many months.

She can be, like I said, a free spirit - so a tad unreliable.

By a tad, I mean she would miss her own funeral.

She's only twenty one though, still a kid essentially, so I can't say I'm surprised either.

I was useless at twenty one.

Hell, I'm still useless at thirty.

"How long have you been seeing him again?" I ask through my teeth, smiling while kicking Finn under the table when he rolls his eyes.
