*Two Years Later*
"MADISON FREAKING ASHTON GET YOUR BUTT IN THE CAR BEFORE I CANCEL THIS DATE!" I heard Jay call from the bottom of the stairs at my house.
"I'm comin! And stop calling me by your last name! You haven't even proposed you dork!" I say switching off my bathroom light and heading towards my front door where Jay is waiting for me, currently doing something on his phone.
"Ready to go?" I ask.
"What?" He said looking up at me. "I mean, yes. Let's go!" he grabbed my hand and pulled me out the front door, shutting it behind him.
"So, where are we going?"
"To the carnival. Duh!" he said sassily.
We sat in comfortable silence with our fingers intertwined over the middle console in Jay's car. After about fifteen minutes we finally got to the carnival.
Jay instantly pulled me to all of the rides that we weren't too tall to go on.
After a ton of roller coasters and carnival games, I finally talked Jay into going on the Ferris wheel with me.
"Okay, but only because I love you." he said while I dragged him towards the short line.
"Why do you not like the Ferris wheel?" I ask.
"Because I've been dumped on one four times." he said looking down at me.
"Well I promise that I won't ever dump you on the Ferris wheel. Okay?"
"Okay." he said smiling.
I went up on my tiptoes and gave him a peck on the lips.
"In fact, if it's any consolation, I was planning on kissing you most of the time we were up there anyways." I say grinning, my lips brushing against his.
"Mmm." his deep voice rumbles as he leans in and kisses me again.
I giggle and pull away because it was our turn to get onto the ride.
We hopped on and Jay put his arm around my shoulders. I snuggled into him as the ride started moving and closed my eyes, enjoying the moment.
"Maddy, look. They're turning on all of the lights." Jay nudged me.
I opened my eyes and gasped. Every ride and booth had been lit up with colorful, flashing lights.
"Oh my gosh! It's so pretty!" I shout, squishing my face between my hands in excitement.
"Just like you." Jay says.
"And you're cheesy. Just like the nachos we had earlier," I said leaning up and kissing him on his cheek. "but thank you for the compliment." I added, feeling his smile grow against my lips.
I was still gazing at the lights when the ride stopped and we were at the top.
"Yes! We get the spot with the best view!" I said turning to Jay in excitement to see that he was on his phone again.
"Is everything okay?" I ask concerned. Jay is almost never on his phone. He only likes to use it when necessary.
"What? Yeah. I'm sorry. I promise it won't happen again." he said, kissing the top of my head.
"It's okay. I never said you couldn't be on your phone. I was just worried because you don't usually use it unless it's something serious." I explained.
"I know but these guys at work showed me this dumb game and I can't win at it."
I feel the tightening in my stomach loosen when I realize I was worried over nothing.
