Epilogue

For some reason, I'm getting the feeling that the elevated area of the rooftop holds a lot of secrets. For one, I heard a very familiar voice and one word entered my mind. "Sis?" I said before I knew it.

"Haru! Welcome back!" She said as she hugged me in delight. She began crying really hard as she buried her face on my shoulders. "And you remember your big sis, I didn't expect you to be here since the lab said you died after the experiment. Why are you here?"

"Well, I'm stronger than I thought. I woke up from the grave, literally." I told her as casually as I could.

"Do you remember everything?"

"Yes, now that I saw you, sis, I remember everything now," I said as I looked up the sky. "By any chance, is Fuyu with you?"

"Come with me." She said as she grabbed my hand and led me to the elevated area.

I absent-mindedly followed her as a few thoughts entered my mind. I gulped as I tried to prepare myself to any situation that my sister might tell me.

But all those thoughts went down the drain as I saw Fuyu emerging from the door of the elevated area. A mixture of emotions welled up inside me as the two of us rushed to each other. I didn't even wait for her to get down from that elevated area, I quickly grabbed her and hugged her.

How could I forget? I thought as I smiled. How could I forget the only love of my life?

"I missed you," I told her as I hugged her tighter.

"I missed you too, Haru. Can you put me down now?" She said smiling. She never intended to let go of the hug in the first place. Due to our height difference, her feet weren't even touching the ground all this time.

"No, I won't let you go," I told her.

"I love you Haru."

"I love you too Fuyu."

Unfortunately, our reunion was cut short as a zombie made its way towards us. One of the armed men struck it dead with a bat, specifically, my bat.

The night began to approach as the sun slowly dipped into the horizon. Fuyu and I gazed in awe as we admired the beauty of the sunset amidst all the chaos surrounding it. For the first time since I woke up, I finally felt human. It was the most refreshing feeling that I could ever get.

"Fuyu, I promise I won't leave you again," I told her as I hugged her once again.

"That's a promise!" She said as she gave me a kiss.

In this dying world, and amidst all of this chaos, I know that we'll pull through, Fuyu
