Backstory: avery harper leighton-rogers was born to rachel leighton and steve rogers after a brief romantic relationship was shared between the two. rachel, better known as diamondback of the serpent society, had played both sides of the fence all her life, and knew she could not give avery a stable life. so, in agreement with steve, he took avery in to provide for her and keep her safe.

despite his title of captain america, avery grew up in a stable and loving home. she used her mother's name at school so she didn't attract any attention. she had friends, hobbies, and a good support system when her dad had to be away.

however, when avery was fifteen, she discovered, on accident, that she had powers of her own. this shocked her, as her father simply had enhanced abilities, and she knew next to nothing about her own mother. unable to properly help her, steve advised avery to essentially conceal her abilities as best as she could until they could find her someone who could really help her.

she would try to practice at on her own at home, with minimal damage, and she soon got a bit of help from wanda maximoff, which she appreciated.

however, for the first time, avery is now on her own. after her father chose to stay back in time and live out the life he never had, returning as an old man, she felt hurt by his decision, as if he was saying the life he had with her wasn't good enough.

these feelings have made it a bit harder to control her powers, though she continues to try and figure them out on her own.
