I woke up the feeling of Trey's hand rubbing my stomach and him talking to the baby and I couldn't help but smile. Trey did this very often and it always made my happy. I was also happy that this pregnancy has been going very differently from the previous one. There were no complications with our son and fortunately, Trey was around for this pregnancy and it brought us much closer.
"Your mom and I can't wait to meet you. We both love you so much more than you could ever imagine, you're probably the greatest thing that ever happened to us. I made some mistakes with your sister, and she's not here for you to meet her, but I promise I won't make those same mistakes with you. I'm gonna be here for you as long I'm on this earth, I promise you I will." He pulled up my shirt and started kissing my stomach, which made me laugh and alerted him that I was awake. "Looks like we woke momma up little guy" he said placing one last kiss on my stomach before giving me his attention.
"Hey baby" I smiled before he placed a kiss on my lips.
"How did you sleep?"
"Great." She sighed. In the past few weeks, I started to slow down with work and everything that I was involved in. It wasn't necessarily that I wanted to, I was just exhausted. I was now eight months and I was ready to get this baby out of me, but my baby wasn't done cooking yet so I had to let him stay. Aside from just being exhausted, I just wanted to take the time to get ready for the baby and Trey and I were trying to spend as much time with each other before it was no longer just us. It was essential to our healing and between that and therapy, I found that it helped us fall deeper in love with him. The connection I had with him was one I hadn't felt in a while and I was glad that we got it back.
"You excited for today?" Trey asked as he rubbed circles in my stomach
"Yea I am. I wasn't really excited for it before, but now I am." Today was my baby shower, and when the idea was brought up, I wasn't very excited just because I was afraid of this pregnancy. I didn't want things to turn out the way they did before, I didn't wanna make it all the way to the finish line just to lose. I know it was irrational, but I kind of felt like I failed as a mother before I even had a chance to really be one, but the more the days went on, the more I realized I had to get over that.
"Good. It's something to be happy about and we kept it simple like you wanted. We also kept it small." He said causing me to laugh
"I believe you kept it small, but nothing you do is ever simple" I said and he joined my laughter
"Alright, you got me. But I think you're gonna like it. I even picked out an outfit for you, Chris is coming to do your make up and Jessica is coming to do your hair"
"Babe, you didn't have to do all of that. I could've done my hair and makeup."
"I know, but I didn't want you to have anything to worry about. I just want you to relax and enjoy today. Leave everything up to us. For once, you don't need to worry about anything."
"That sounds great" I sighed.
"Good. So don't worry about anything, we all got you for today"
"Thanks baby" I said poking out my lips so he could kiss them.
"You're welcome. What do you want for breakfast mama?"
