Today is not just an ordinary day.
Today, is the day; the day that marks our first date, the day that makes it all official, the day that I’ve been waiting for the whole week.
To say that I’m excited is understating it; I’m rather anxious and ecstatic for what he has planned for today. I’ve been bugging Mason all day yesterday to tell me where we’re going today, he shrugs it off and tells me that it’s a surprise.
After preparing for an hour, I heard the door bell ring accompanied by my Mum’s voice telling me that my date has arrived. I looked at myself one last time in the mirror before I went down. We bid my parents goodbye and he promised them that I’ll be home before midnight.
The car ride was long, I think an hour or so, maybe, but I didn’t mind, it’s always nice having a conversation with him. We had our usual topics, from our family’s stories to the weird things that we did. We stopped by a Chinese restaurant and ordered take-out.
As I seat here at the passenger seat of his car, I now realize how strong my feelings for him are. I wonder if he feels the same way. I looked at him and he gave me a smile, I returned that smile. He’s still mum as to where our destination is.
He stopped the car in front of what looks like a condo building. When we got out of the car, that’s when I read the establishment’s name; Sunshine Leisure Retirement Home. My eyes widen as my heart rate increased. He plans on introducing me to his grandmother for our first date?
“Please tell me you didn’t bring me here to introduce to your grandmother.” I said.
“I didn’t bring you here to introduce to my grandmother.” He stated. There is a hint of sarcasm in his voice along with a smirk on his face.
“You should’ve told me!” I exclaimed. “I would’ve dress more presentably.”
“Relax… Nana doesn’t judge by looks. Just be your usual self and you’ll be fine.” He smiled. “Shall we?”
I groaned and held the hand he offered.
I stood there awkwardly with the Chinese food take-out as he talks to the receptionist. Did I mention that they’re on first name basis? I wouldn’t mind that if ‘Gina’ is a sweet old lady, but noooo… she happens to be a 16 year old girl that wears fit clothes and has fake eyelashes that she bats every second while talking to Mason. Hey, don’t judge, I have every right to be jealous now, as of 2 hours ago, we, are officially dating.
She shouldn’t be working here; she should be in a whore house or something.
Pardon my language.
“She’ll be done with her check-up; you could wait in her room.” She said sweetly as she puts the phone down.
“Thanks.” Mason said.
“Anytime.” She replied. I rolled my eyes at her.
“She has a little crush on me.” Mason chuckled.
“Oh really? I didn’t notice… At all.” My voice dripping with sarcasm.
His grandmother’s room is at the 5th floor of the building, it’s 5B to be exact. He’s greeting every single person we pass by with ‘How are you?’ and the likes of that and he’s even engaging in small talk with them, people like him here. A few of them asked who I am and he introduces me to them. Even in a retirement house he’s popular. He must be here a lot often than I thought.
“I come here every Saturday.” He stated. I was right. “You’ll love Nana, she’s a lot like me, well, I’m better looking.”
“What kind of nonsense are you blabbing about?”
