My time on the island is coming to an end. I almost can't believe it. It seems like it all happened so fast.

Zach called Claire on the satellite phone as soon as we left the shower. She agreed with Zach and I. The island was not safe anymore. She said she would send a boat to come get us and the equipment. It would be here tomorrow.

I couldn't sleep at all last night. I spent the hours reveling in the feel of Zach's arms around me and listening to his deep breathing. I wondered what was going to happen to us. I had a sinking feeling that when we left the island, our time would be up. He's given me no reason to believe otherwise.

I know he doesn't like to be vulnerable, and I even catch him sometimes stopping himself before he reveals too much.

I can understand that. I wasn't at the park on the day of a dinosaur escape, but I have had my heart broken. That was devastating, and I feel more for Zach than I ever felt for the other guy. I resolve that I will stay strong when he inevitably tells me we're done.

"Ivy? Are you awake?" I was so consumed in my thoughts that I hadn't noticed Zach had woken up. I nod my head.

He whispers in my ear. "Get up. I have something to show you."

I turn my head to look at him, confused. "Where are we going? It's dark outside."

He brings his lips to my bare shoulder, kissing my skin. "Not anymore."

I look at my window and see that he's right. There is a small amount of light peeking in under the curtains.

"But we have to hurry or we're going to miss it," Zach says. He's already scooting toward the foot of the bed before standing and dressing—he usually sleeps in his boxer briefs.

I enjoy the view for a moment before slowly sitting up, rubbing my eyes. "Miss what, Zach? What are you talking about?"

He steps over to me and plants a quick kiss on my lips. "I'll meet you outside."

He walks out of the bedroom, and I hear the front door open and close gently. I shake my head in an attempt to wake myself up before standing and changing into a pair of shorts and a tank top. Even at dawn, it's hot here.

When I step outside, I see Zach unlocking the padlock at the gate. I walk up behind him and wrap my arms around his waist, making him jump. He must not have heard me coming. He recovers quickly, placing his hand on my arm and taking a deep breath. He tilts his head back slightly so it's resting on mine, and we just stand there for a moment. I unexpectedly feel the urge to cry, and I don't know why. I fight it and after another moment, Zach speaks.

"I need to show you something."

I release my arms, allowing Zach to open the gate and step through. I follow him to an area on the other side of camp. I never come over here—I would have no reason to.  As we get closer, I can see something big and shiny sitting behind a small cluster of bushes.

With each step I take, the object takes on more and more of an actual shape—a sphere. "Zach...is that a...a gyrosphere?!?"

He answers with a smile. I squeal and skip over to the contraption. Once I place my hand on it, I turn back to Zach. "How long has this been here? Why didn't you tell me about it?" I'm not upset. I'm just surprised.
