"Hannah, are you almost ready? We need to get going!" I yelled up the stairs.
"Five minutes!" She yelled back.
I settled on to the couch, rubbing my belly. My stomach was absolutely massive now. I had been home for three weeks, and it felt as if I had gained another ten pounds at least. The twins moved all the time, which meant that I had hardly gotten any sleep in the past month. I tried my hardest not to be crabby, but I was not handling the deprivation well.
"Everything is loaded in the car," Zayn announced, coming back inside the front door. "You ready?"
I nodded. "We're just waiting on Hannah."
"Are you sure you're all right to travel? I can call the boys and say that I'll miss a few shows. It's not the end of the world." His voice was anxious and I knew he really meant it. He would miss the tour to be with me if that's what I wanted.
"I'm positive. No need to leave your fans disappointed just because I've turned into a barge."
"Well you're a very pretty boat," he told me, kissing my nose.
"Lets go!" Hannah chimed, having come down the stairs. "Seven and a half hours to Chicago, not including bathroom breaks for the pregnant lady!"
"You're in a good mood," Zayn commented, raising an eyebrow.
"Maybe I'm just excited for a road trip with my favorite sister and her hubby-to-be," she replied, flouncing out the front door.
"Or maybe you're excited to see a certain Irish best-mate of mine?" He smirked.
"I don't know what you're talking about," Hannah said airily. She climbed into the backseat of the SUV. "Lets hit the road!"
Zayn and I shared a look, but I got into the driver's seat, adjusting the seat to make room for my tummy. "Everyone buckled?"
"You're driving?" Hannah exclaimed, surprised. "Is that safe?"
I stuck my tongue out at her before reversing out of the driveway. "Of course its safe. Zayn and I will switch in a couple hours. I'm not completely useless."
"Gemma, you've always been completely useless. Pregnant or not," she teased.
"Don't make me regret inviting you," I groaned.
"You didn't invite me!" She laughed. "Zayn did!"
Before I could come up with a clever response One Thing came on the radio and I giggled. Zayn reached to change the station but I swatted his hand away. "I like this song!"
"I feel silly listening to myself on the radio," he told me. "It's still bizzare."
"Sing it for us!" I crowed.
"I'm not warmed up and I don't have the other lads here..."
"Zayn." I frowned to tell him he was being ridiculous.
He frowned back, but started to sing along. Soon enough Hannah and I had joined in and I saw her mouth drop open when he hit the big note at the end. "That was amazing!" She said loudly.
"He's good, isn't he?" I giggled.
"Wow!" Was all she managed to say.
Zayn smiled my favorite crooked smile, clearly happy to be praised. "You two are pretty talented yourselves."
"We used to do duets for our parents when we were little." I felt Zayn give my thigh a gentle squeeze as I spoke. "I haven't sang with Hannah in forever."
