------------- (Sophie's POV) -------------
Oh my! Oh my! Did I just?
Nikki won't believe me. I can't even believe it myself!
I actually called him.
He doesn't seem to be bothered. And now I'm the one getting all worried about trivial things.
I knew I shouldn't have checked up on them. I knew there was something going on. It feels like I did it on purpose.
Did I want them to stop? I actually didn't like our challenge? Knowing West, he will hold it against me. I'm just starting to stand on my two feet against him.
I still shake a bit when he's around. Especially if his sharp eyes are staring at me.
But I made up my mind already. I'm scared but gone are those days. Days when I'm just a flower for his suit. Days when I'm just a cherry on top of his perfect life.
I am making my mind up right now. I don't have to step down to his womanizing level. I don't need fool around. I won't. That's not me. I can get even with him like this, right?
And I don't know why I feel guilty now that he is in front of me.
------------- (Jonathan's POV) -------------
Isn't that the infamous West Villanueva of VM Construction Company? So Faye is working for him, huh?
What a promotion. I'm both happy and sad for her. If she asked for help, I already have 5 positions that she can choose from.
But maybe we are not at that level of friendship yet.
Well, she needed this career boost more than anyone else. And she deserves this more than anyone else too.
But under West? I heard he's a womanizer.
Lewd thoughts ran down my head but I know Faye. I don't know her secrets but I know a good person when I see one. We just had small talks here and there but sometimes, you'll really know when someone is speaking from the heart.
She's too busy to think about trivial things, let alone accept romantic advancements. Yeah, I think I'm liking her.
And I think West already got himself a side chick, a hot one at that. She must be a model the way she carries herself.
They are walking together. I doubt she'll remember that I'm still here.
But I may be wrong. And I was.
------------- (Faye's POV) -------------
I'm relieved that she's gone. She really looked pissed and as a fellow woman, I know she's plotting something. Miss Sophie should know about this.
I started to read his schedule for the day while we walked along the spacious lobby. It might be a good 30 seconds before we reach the hotel doors.
"You have a meeting with the Sales department today at 2pm."
"Then say that's all."
I don't know if he was mad or being a mentor. I hope it's the latter.
I tapped Jonathan as we passed by him at the lobby seating area. I waved and whispered "Bye!"
I know it is my first day, but I feel surprisingly light and not very stressed. This secretary post may not be so bad after all.
As long as I think about Mom, Dad, Yessa, Rain, and Poro back home, no wall is unsurmountable.
This is a new chapter and a fresh chance to start an actual career. I'm done with the days when my career advancement was like blacking out a bingo card of odd jobs.
I stood behind West as we waited for his car. To be honest, I was surprised to see that he's driving a simple black car. I was expecting a sports car to park in front of us.
I watched him go around the driver's seat and I immediately walked towards the taxi stop.
I'm a few steps late to get the last taxi on the lane but it seems like I didn't have to wait.
"What are you doing?"
The window went down and I wasn't sure if the shriver was from the car's AC or from the fact that I might have done something bad.
"I'm waiting for a taxi."
"What the hell? Get in here!"
All I could say was "Thank you, Sir."
It was an agonizing silent trip up to the entrance of VM building. But before he went out of the car, he firmly commanded, "You stay here."
Maybe this is what Poro feels when I command him to stay in one spot.
This feels like a punishment. Is this a punishment? It's my first day and I already get punished?! What a mess, Faye! What a mess!
"Let's go." He said as he opened the door for me.
And just like Poro, I stood up and followed him diligently minus the wagging tail.
------------- (West's POV) -------------
"What was your name again?"
"Faye. I'm Faye Lazaro, Sir."
"Alright, Faye. I'm starving. Get me a Ranch plate from the Gistro downstairs."
She busted out the classic notepad and pen on me. And here I am just staring at her, waiting if I have to repeat myself.
"And for drinks?"
"Alright. Let me repeat your order, 1 Ranch plate without drinks."
"Uhh, yes that's right."
"Okay. I'll be right back."
She just said order. Was she a waitress? What the hell is happening to our employment process. Unless she got a shortcut, she won't be able to get in. Not in this position especially.
Oh well. She'll realize that she bit off more than she could chew eventually.
It will be a while before the meeting starts and none of my emails have received responses.
Sophie called me while I was with Marrah. Seriously, what is happening with her.
This challenge we have and her actions lately, it is pushing and pulling my feelings. It's like a yes but a no. I should call her.
"My meeting's over. Can you come over to my office? I need to talk to you about something."
"You already called me. Can you just say it over the phone?"
I'm not the one to back down and beg. Not even for Sophie. I'll just pass by her office after the meeting with the Sales department.
She can't run away from there.
