A/N: First off, I'd like to make a formal apology to the artist of my covers for this book as well as Disfigured Beauty. You can find them at sanzo-sinclaire on Deviant Art. A new design for both books is currently underway.
Now, what about that reveal last chapter!?? Many of you guessed it a few chapters back as I made it a bit more obvious. I believe you will enjoy some of the first chapters a bit more as other things are revealed as well... See? Loki has been there since the beginning!! Anyway, this is by far one of my favorite chapters ever, you'll see why. As I am almost done with the book, two chapters will be released a week! (Mondays and Fridays)
And finally: PLEASE listen to the music. I'd say wait until the end... you'll know the right time. I picked this version because I imagine Loki singing the first part, and Sigyn the second part. The lyrics also inspired this chapter:
Guess it's true, I'm not good at a one-night stand
But I still need love 'cause I'm just a man
These nights never seem to go to plan
I don't want you to leave, will you hold my hand?Oh, won't you stay with me?
'Cause you're all I need
This ain't love, it's clear to see
But darling, stay with meWhy am I so emotional?
No, it's not a good look, gain some self-control
And deep down I know this never works
But you can lay with me so it doesn't hurt?-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The magic that was flowing off his fingertips was sub sequentially draining him of his power. The emerald eyes drooped; drawing the poison out and healing her body all at the same time was taking its toll. He was attempting to heal three different things; some of the original poison from the arrow still in her system, the arrow wound itself and finally, the poison that she had just consumed. The Master would surely attempt to take her life again as every attempt thus far had failed. His body trembled and turned a ghostly white, even for his porcelain skin. Exhausted, his hands dropped and the golden hue died, her breathing became more regular and color started to fill her cheeks.
Falling back into his seat, he slumped down and thought of sleeping, but should a guard or someone else walk in, his cover would be blown. Throwing his hand up he cast an illusion of himself as Skrímsli, of course. If anyone walked closer and went to touch him, aside from Sigyn, the illusion would fade and they would see Loki. The illusion was a weak one, not like the charm he had previously cast to hide himself from everyone, even Heimdall.
Leaning his head down on her bed, his ice cold fingers snagged her equally cold ones, hoping that she would wake up soon. He heard a knock at the door and instantly sat up and stood away from the chair. Instead, he moved so that he was looking over the bookshelf, pretending to be preoccupied when the door opened.
It was Eir, the former head healer. The older woman smiled at the guard and began to look at the reading on the stasis chamber, turning her head to the side slightly as she must have seen the change in Sigyn’s levels.
“Hmmm.” The older woman murmured.
Skrímsli, pretending to be interested looked up at the Asgardian healer. “Is something wrong Lady Eir?”
“No, it’s just… Sigyn’s levels have improved tremendously. Whatever it was that was in her system is fading now. She does not need to remain in the stasis chamber anymore. Nothing has been changed in regards to medicine or anything of that nature?” The guard shook his head to the healer’s question. “Interesting…” Eir removed the stasis chamber with a few handmovements and then began sifting through her bag at the same time for a flask.
