Chapter ThirtySeven- Kind Of Like A Killing Club

July 25th: Waxing Crescent

Okay, I know this really is the right time to make such a statement, but this is starting to feel like a killing club. I mean, so far almost everyone I've met has killed someone. I've killed someone, Amanda, York, and now Dylan have. Seriously, why were we all giving werewolves a bad name with our killing animal nature? It really is painful to think about the fact that even though we're trying to stop a murdering vampire, we've killed people ourselves.

That was beside the point though. What I really should be thinking about was the fact that Dylan had just told us his darkest secret, that he had been human once but then suddenly turned into a werewolf. Now werewolves not bound by the moon seem very powerful, but I never expected it to be like this. Lockheart is indeed strong and can suck in evil, but he's still a lot like a normal werewolf. Then there's Amanda who supposedly has tons of power that has the potential to kill a lot of people. Now we have Dylan who can apparently kill people with a look. So he really is giving new meaning to the term "If looks could kill".

However, it was obvious that he wasn't proud of this fact. His eyes were glazed over and although his tears had stopped falling I knew they were brimming on the edge of his lids. I knew how hard it is to have death on your conscience, but right now, I couldn't think of anything to say in comfort.

It seemed Haden couldn't think of anything to say either because he just sat there, staring at Dylan as if he were from another planet. I think he was more shocked than anything having not known this about Dylan for so long. Even I was shocked, but after all the shit I've been through, it's hard to get things to process through my mind quickly. I think it just hasn't hit me yet.

We all sat there in silence, really not knowing what to do. Well, that is until there was a knock at the door. The three of us gave a start, Dylan more so than Haden and I. He looked over at the front door, a look of fear in his eyes as he got up to answer it. The only thought running through my mind though was who in the world could possibly be knocking on the door. Everyone in Riverwood knew the mayor wasn't here now and I couldn't think of anyone who'd come to visit Dylan and Andy at this time. Something was off, especially with Dyaln's reaction.

Haden seemed to think so too because he looked down at the page again, turning his eyes back to Dylan seconds later. Dylan's hands were shaking as he reached for the knob while all Haden and I could do was watch him in panic mode. What was going on?

"You don't have to answer if you don't want to Dylan," Haden said, finally trying to stop Dylan from acting so freaked out. Since neither of us knew what was going on, that was the only help we could provide for the time being.

Haden's words meant nothing though as Dylan opened the door, a fist connecting with his face moments later, knocking him to the ground in a single swipe. Haden and I were on our feet in seconds, coming to see who had punched him. Then, standing at the door was a tall middle-aged man, Amanda standing behind him with her knuckles stained by Dylan's blood.

The man, pale white with glimmering red eyes stepped inside the house, making sure not to step on Dylan as he walked into the room. Amanda followed after him, taking both Haden and my breath away. Once again I couldn't find to do anything and seeing her now with this vampire, it was sickening in so many ways.

Amanda was dressed in all black, a miniskirt showing off her long legs and a skimpy tank top showing claw marks below her right shoulder blade. Before she'd always worn t-shirts so I'd never noticed it and from the scar tissue, I could tell they'd been deep cuts.
