"Write about being overheated and sweltering"

The sun is a ball of fire in a sky so blue that it almost white and hurts the eyes. If you can bear to gaze at that blinding canopy you would not find a single cloud, not even a wisp of a cloud. Despondent, you shift your gaze to the road ahead, and you can see the tar sizzle; the five minutes wait at the traffic signal give you a feeling that the sun will burn the skin away. You check the air conditioner, it is at the maximum, all the vents are open, you run a hand over them to confirm, yet the cooling is not enough to counter the blaze of the summer heat. Even the dark shades on your face are ineffectual it appears, the light is too bright.

The minutes seem lethargic too, in the dry heat, as they crawl by slower than normal. You drive at a snail's pace, as the traffic moves at a snail's pace, also affected by the heat. Even in the relative comfort of your car you find beads of perspiration and the shades start to itch where they rest on the bridge of your nose.

Finally when you reach your office, you are already drained out by the drive, even before you had started the day. With a heavy sigh, you pull yourself out of the car, preparing to be met by the wave of heat that hits you the moment you step out of the air conditioned confines of the car. The parking lot is no relief, for the concrete structure adds stuffiness to the atmosphere. The dress clings to your back, leaving you uncomfortable and damp but nothing to worry, the five minutes' walk from the parking lot to your office would dry your clothes, though you mind end up sweating.

Stepping into the air conditioned office, the contrast hits you like an ice wave, a blast of relief from the hot sweltering summer day. For eight hours you can enjoy the temporary respite, till it is time to go home and you once again endure the heat, though the dark sky is a slight relief.

One day of summer done, another eighty nine to a hundred and nineteen days to go, depending on when the rain god deigns to grace us with his presence.
