Karina

"You-Ikaw, Me-kao." Katrina recited.

"Ako." Ethan corrected Katrina.

More than thirty minutes had passed but all I did was watch Ethan and Katrina. They appeared to be enjoying their tutoring session. Ethan was very patient while Katrina's very engrossed while I am irritated.

Why did he keep on ignoring me as if I'm not there?

"What is the tagalong of I don't like?" I butted in.

"I is 'ako', don't like is 'ayaw'. You will not say ako ayaw but instead you'll say ayoko." Ethan answered without looking at her.

The nerve of this guy!

"Rude person who don't look at you while you're talking to them. Translate it in tagalog." I succeeded in getting his attention, this time he looked at me.

He didn't respond. Ethan just stared at me.

"Karina, is there something wrong?" Katrina asked.

I ignored Katrina and sneered at Ethan. "Do I need to repeat myself or you just don't understand?" I asked mockingly.

"I understand you perfectly." Ethan replied.

"If you do, then translate it." I taunted him. "You wouldn't mind, would you? You are here to help us, Katrina and ako, right?"

"Bastos na tao na hindi tumitingin sa iyo habang kinakausap mo siya." Ethan translated.

"Write it down here." I gave him my notebook and pen. "You start from Awayko."

"Ayoko." Ethan corrected me with a cold tone. He wrote it down and returned it to me.

"A-yow-ko sa bays-tows na taw-oh na hin-day tumi-tayn-gin say-oh hab-eng ki-nay-kaw-oo-sayp mow sey-ah." I read it.

"Wow! It's so long. Can you memorize it?" Katrina remarked.

"Nah, I can't. But I'll keep this note. I have a feeling I'll be using this more often." My eyes fixed at him. "There's this guy that I just met."

Ethan brows crossed. "If you want to say it to that person, say it with correct pronunciation and with the same tone of haughtiness as how you would say it in English. Because from what I've heard you sounded like you're reciting a poem. Parang nang-aakit ka sa halip na nagagalit."

"What?" I annoyingly exclaimed. "You are so rude! What did you say? You know that we cannot understand tagalog. Be a man and say it to me in English."

Ethan get the notebook from her hand. "There," he returned it to me. "I wrote there what I've just said. You research the meaning of those words."

He stood up.

"Katrina, I'm going now. Maybe we could continue our lesson some other time."

"Sure," Katrina smiled.

"No, you are now fired!" I said in an angry tone. "I am not satisfied with your way of teaching."

"Huwag po kayong mag-alala, wala na talaga akong balak na turuan ka. Allergic ako sa mga masusungit." Ethan said to her.

I wanted to slap him for talking in tagalog. I didn't understand a thing.

"I hate you!" I shouted. "I don't want to see your face again."

"Kari, calm down. There's no need for you to shout at him." Katrina tried to appease me.

"Katrina, bye." Ethan said to Katrina before walking away.

Unbelievable! He's acting so cool while I'm so furious. He's unaffected of my anger. How could he be so damn insensitive? I didn't do anything to deserve this kind of treatment.

I've searched my bag, looked for my phone and dialed a number.

"Who are you calling?" Katrina asked.

"Hello," she heard from the other line.

"Hello, Lolo." She greeted. "It's an emergency. I need a Filipino tutor later."

I paused to listen. "No, I want the tutor today. It's urgent, it can't wait." I demanded.

Afterwards, I smiled wickedly.

"Okay bye. Thanks." I ended the call.

"Why do you need a tutor later?" Katrina asked again.

"I want to learn to speak and understand tagalog fast."

"Why the rush?" Katrina inquired.

"I need to know the meaning of these words." I looked at the words he wrote on my notebook.

Ethan

Magkaganoon man, napaganda pa rin niya. I remembered seeing how her green eyes darken, making her looked sexy and seductive. Sa bawat paniningkit ng mga mata niya sa inis ay para itong nang-aakit.

Idagdag pa ang pamumula ng pisngi at ilong niya habang nagagalit. There's no visible preckles on her nose. Her complexion's fair and clear. I hadn't seen her smile yet, for sure Karina will be as lovely as Katrina.

Matatagalan pa siguro bago ko makita siyang ngumiti kasi sobrang sungit!

Looking forward to the day she'll smile at me.
