Jaehyun breathed in the fresh air.  The flight had been unbearably long, and all he wanted to do was walk around and stretch his long limbs.  He and a few other NCT members were taking a break from the idol life to study, and Jaehyun had chosen to come to America with Johnny and Mark.  They'd all be at the same high school, but they were given strict instructions to always wear a face mask and baseball hat and try to stay out of trouble.

"It's been a while since I've done anything but music," Mark eyed the high school they would be studying at in awe.  It was a beautiful structure that looked like it was straight out of a storybook.  There was ivy crawling up the sides of the worn buildings, but it didn't give off a creepy feel.  Instead, the high school looked rather warm and welcoming.

"Alright, we'll meet up at this same spot once the day is done to head home to the dorms," Johnny smiled.  "See you guys later."

Jaehyun looked down at his schedule and squinted at the buildings, trying to figure out which one he was supposed to be in.  Back at home, the high school he used to go to had been just one building.  Here, there were more than he could count on his fingers.

Finally, after asking a handful of students, he made it to his first class of the day- math.  The teacher introduced him for a whole five seconds before the class moved onto other activities.

"Does anyone have the answer to the question on the board?" the math teacher asked.

Jaehyun had never liked math that much, but surprisingly he was good at it.  However, he didn't want to be known as that kid on his first day.  He heard some whispering behind him and suddenly, the tough-looking guy next to him spoke up.

"It's 27.3."

The teacher smiled.  "Yes!  That's correct!  Can you come up here and show the class how you got that number?"

The guy snarled and the whole class began to snicker.  Jaehyun noticed the guy turn around and make a fist at you.  You stuck out your bottom lip in a pout and lay your head down on the desk.

After class, Jaehyun was packing up his things and couldn't help but overhear the conversation between you and the tough-looking guy.

"If you're gonna give me the answer, you need to give me the whole thing.  GOT IT?!"

You whimpered before nodding eagerly as the guy knocked your books off your desk, sending your papers flying.

"I'm letting you off with a warning this time, nerd, but next time, you won't be this lucky."

Jaehyun stiffened as the guy walked past him.  He was told to keep a low profile, but he hated seeing things like this.  Quickly, he gathered the papers that had fallen on the floor and arranged them neatly before handing them to you.

"Thank you," you whispered, and you smiled as the new guy Jaehyun left in a hurry.

"So how was your first day?" Mark asked as they unlocked the room they'd be staying in.

Johnny sighed deeply.  That pretty much summed it up.  Jaehyun was about to step into his new home when he heard the doorknob twist next door.  When it opened, you stood there with an empty pitcher.

You quickly bowed and scurried towards the water fountain to fill your pitcher to make ramen.  Jaehyun smiled, but you couldn't tell because of the face mask and the baseball cap that was pulled low over his eyes.  He didn't like how the world was so unfair to someone who seemed so pure and innocent.

"You coming in?" Mark tapped his foot impatiently.

"Yeah," Jaehyun said slowly before giggling to himself.

That next morning, you woke up to the sound of your alarm blaring in your ear.  It was another day where'd you have to face the bullies who picked on you nonstop.  But you'd gotten used to it.  You packed your bag and grabbed an apple to eat on the way, but when you opened your door, you realized there was something hanging off it.

Carefully, you peeked inside and saw a steaming cup  of fresh coffee.  The scent itself was enough to wake you up.  There was no note, no name, nothing.  Just a nice cup of coffee hanging from your door.  This was the first time in years someone had done something nice for you.  The teasing had happened when all your friends abandoned you to join "cliques" and befriend the "popular kids."  You had adopted a lone wolf sort of personality, and along with it came the constant teasing.

A fresh cup of coffee started hanging from a bag on your door every morning afterwards.  It was the last day of school, now, and you were determined to see who was behind these generous acts.  You woke up earlier than the sun, and as soon as you heard footsteps outside your door, you opened it.

A startled Jaehyun backed up, and you smiled.  The guy who had always behind his face masks and caps was strikingly handsome.  And he wasn't just any guy.

"Jaehyun... from NCT?" you asked slowly.  It all made sense to you, now.

"I wanted to give this to you for the last time," Jaehyun struggled to speak.  "I'm leaving tonight to go back to my group.  School was only a temporary break."

You took the warm cup of coffee from him.  "You're leaving tonight?"

He sighed.  "I wish I could have mustered up the courage to say something to you sooner.  I regret being your anonymous coffee deliverer.  You seem so nice.  I thought maybe-"  Jaehyun cut himself off.

You smiled softly.  "I don't really like goodbyes.  So maybe we'll see each other again one day."  Your heart ached.  As much as you wanted to say something, you didn't want to ruin Jaehyun's career by convincing him to stay.

Jaehyun returned the gesture with a grin.  He was secretly hoping you would stop him.  He wanted to stare into your eyes forever.  As his plane took off later that evening, he swore he could see your innocent face painted in the clouds.  He had to believe that one day he would see you again with another fresh cup of coffee.

A/N: Thanks chitaphrrnctizen for requesting this one!  I wish someone would deliver me coffee every morning!  Even better if it's Jaehyun haha!  I hope all of you are doing well and are enjoying your holiday break!!  Also I'm thinking about maybe doing a part 2 for this, so let me know if you guys want one! :)

Question of the imagine:  What's the nicest thing you've done/said to someone you didn't know?  For me, I think I give out compliments to random people all the time.  If I like someone's sweater or someone's shoes, I usually tell them.  It not only makes the other person feel happy, but it makes me feel happy, too.
