Nate's POV
After the talk with Skylar, I head to the woods for a run.
'I love you, but I'm not in love with you, you have to understand,'
There words kept repeating and repeating themselves in my mind.
Did Skylar realize how hard it was to just smile and say I do understand?
My wolf growled at me. You shouldn't be upset about Skylar, he isn't our mate.
Oh, shut up! I cried leaning against a tree.
My life is just too much like a love triangle. I love him. He loves another.
The worst thing to happen now is for my mate to find me.
I shook my head, dismissing the thought.
I froze.
Someone was coming.
My eyes fell on a figure in the moonlight.
My wolf howled. Mate!
My eyes widened in shock. You're kidding me!
Nope, my wolf cried happily. I don't joke!
Oh Joseph, Mary, Jesus, I muttered.
My heart was racing, and the only thing I want to do is to run away.
...
I could feel him increasing speed.
He was a good runner, I acknowledged. But I'm better.
Or least... I thought so.
He suddenly pounced on me, pinning me to the ground. My body was tingling with electricity of his touch.
"God alive, Mate," he gasped. "You sure can run!"
I flinched at the word Mate.
No, I'm not ready to accept this. He's an alpha for God's sake!
"I'm nobody's mate," I scowled, earning a loud howl from my wolf.
Stop it! You're hurting our mate!
He's an alpha, he can handle this, I scoffed at my wolf.
"Yes, you are," my mate argued.
"No, I'm not," I hissed.
When he didn't say anything, I shrugged him off and said,
"I'm no ones,"
...
I ran back into my room, slamming the door.
Oh god.
I can't believe it.
He finally came. My mate.
He came when I lost Skylar.
Skylar was never yours to lose, my wolf commented.
I groaned and punched the wall, forming a hole.
The heartbreak was still there. Will I be able to accept a new love?
Oh god.
I don't really know what to do now...
