Present day,

California.

"Uh huh, I understand, India... Yeah, of course you're right!... And he should." I rolled my eyes, not fully listening to what my little sister was saying.

"Asia! Are you even listening?"

I pried my eyes away from the notice board I was staring out and sighed. "Yes, I'm listening. Something about how you feel as if Leo hasn't been listening to you."

"You haven't been listening! Argh, let me start again."

"No, no, no! There's no need for that. Hey India, let me call you back, I'm next in line. Okay, bye, love you." I hung up and let out a huge breath. If talking and complaining was an olympic sport, I was positive that my sister would win gold every time. She always found it necessary to call me at least 3 times a day. She had taken up the habit ever since our mom died of breast cancer 3 years back. My mother would call me all the time and so not wanting to break a tradition, India carried it on. I always wondered how she managed to do that whilst running a bakery and keeping her husband happy.

I returned to the piece of paper pinned onto the board that had caught my attention. It was for a ballroom dance class and they were doing a special offer. "What the hay." I said to myself and took the number down.

I'd always been interested in ballroom dancing, but I just stopped doing it. I danced from age 7 all the way to 18. Not being vain or anything but I was quite good at it! Looking back now, I don't even know why I stopped. Dancing was one of my greatest loves.

Dancing and Ethan.

I cursed myself for even letting my mind wander to him. After all these years I still thought about him from time to time, wondering what could've been had we gotten married or he hadn't cheated. Turned out, his mistress Ava wasn't pregnant after all and after discovering this, he had called me numerous times but I wasn't hearing it. I may be a lot of things but a fool was not on that list.

Since ignoring his calls, I hadn't seen nor heard about/from him in six years and I preferred it that way. It wasn't that I was still hung up over the guy, I wasn't. I was just able to recognise that Ethan was someone who I'd loved so much that I'd never quite fully get him out of my system. But I was over him.

"Excuse me, Miss, are you paying or...?" I snapped out of my daze as I realised the cashier talking to me. I offered the burly man a smile before paying and leaving.

I stepped into the two bedroom condo that I was sharing and sighed, glad to be home after a long day at work. "Monica!" I yelled.

"In the shower!" I unpacked all the groceries and danced along to the sounds of Beyonce's 'Get Me Bodied' on the CD that Monica was playing. I let down my hair and pondered over what to cook. "Oh, you went grocery shopping! Great, I was just about to head out and you have just saved me a trip!" My roommate said. She pulled her wet blonde hair back and started singing along.

I had only known the girl for almost 7 months and yet we got on like we knew each other forever. When I had moved out from living with my sister and moved to the other side of California, I'd struggled with finding a place to live. Until I'd seen a pretty leggy girl stapling a poster onto a tree looking for a roommate. We clicked instantly and I moved in within a week.

"You got any plans for tonight?" she asked me and I shook my head no then asked her the same question. "Nope but we could always go and watch a movie or something. The new Batman film looks too good to miss!"

"Shouldn't you be packing for your two week get away with your boo?" she blushed and couldn't help the grin that took over her face at the mention of her man. Having only known the girl for 7 months, I didn't know that much about her boyfriend apart from the fact that he lived in Seattle and that they'd been together for a little over eight months and as far as I could tell, Monica was head over heels in love with the boy.
