Shikamaru and Temari walked into the room together. "Hello." Shikamaru mumbled as he opened the door. Sakura turned to look at them and smiled, pointing towards Naruto and I.
"Shikamaru, Temari, look who it is!" She said, as if she didn't punch Naruto into the ground earlier today. She is very bipolar, but so are many females I have met.
Shikamaru looked at Naruto and smiled, "Hey, is that really you Naruto?" Naruto turned around and greeted him, smiling right back at him. "And.. Hitori? Damn, this brings me back. Still taller than us just like the old days, huh?" Shikamaru said, chuckling slightly. I looked around. It does seem like he is right. I am still taller than them. They conversed for a bit while I had looked toward Temari.
"What do you want, kid?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"I simply want to know how Gaara is doing." I stated, waiting for her to inform me. She smiled at my words and nodded.
"He's doing great. It's honestly thanks to you and Naruto." She said, her smile only growing. I suddenly found Naruto at my side, who was looking towards Temari skeptically.
"Then.. are you my opponent?" Naruto asked. "Wait. Who are you again?"
"You don't remember me?" She asked, raising a brow. Tsunade called our attention back to her and said that his opponent was outside, pointing to where she had mentioned. I was wondering why I was feeling a familiar presence outside. I wonder who it is. Naruto and I made our way to the window, Naruto opening it and looking out onto the ledge. It was then that I saw kakashi.
"You two sure have gotten tall." Kakashi said, looking up from his strange book. It looks like the same one he usually read from all those years ago. "Yo."
"Kakashi sensei!" Naruto exclaimed, jumping out onto the roof panels of the strangely constructed building. "You haven't changed a bit!" It was true. Kakashi didn't seem to change at all. Naruto stopped and reached into his back pouch. "Oh yeah! Listen, listen, I've got a present for you, Sensei."
Tsunade and Sakura walked towards me and stood beside the open window. "This sure is a nostalgic sight." Tsunade mumbled, Sakura agreeing with her a second after.
A loud, "What?!" cut off their conversation, and drew my attention back to the two males outside. "Y-you got me.. th-this is.." Kakashi said, stumbling over his words.
"This is the first title in the Make-Out series in three years!" Naruto finished. "I think it's totally boring, but you like this stuff, don't you Sensei?" The blonde commented, causing Jiraya to scoff behind me. Kakashi opened the book, an expression of utter disbelief and fascination taking over his face, a kind of expression that rarely happens on his usually bored face. Or as much as I can tell, given that he has a mask covering half his face.
Tsunade told him to stop playing around, making him shut his book with one hand and stand up. Naruto then asked him if he was his opponent, which I thought was obvious, but Kakashi replied with, "Not quite." While he stood from his spot and let Naruto into the building before crouching on the window frame. "It's been a while, Sakura." He said, looking to me right after. "You too Hitori. Have you learned a bit more while you were out adventuring?" He asked.
"Yes, I believe I have. It is good to see you, Kakashi." I said.
"The pleasure is mine." He hummed, moving his attention back to Naruto and Sakura. "My opponent is.. Naruto and Sakura."
Sakura and Naruto jumped in confusion, Naruto repeating what kakashi had just said. "I want to see what you can do against Kakashi.. I will decide your status based on the results." Tsunade said, intertwining her fingers.
"Status eh?" Shikamaru mumbled. He then looked at me while Tsunade spoke to them. "Speaking of which, did you even become a chunin?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"We must have went to different exams then." He replied, chuckling. I looked back at Sakura and Naruto when I heard the sound of someone using the teleportation jutsu. It was kakashi, seeing as though he was the only one missing. "He's going to read his book."
"Oh!" Naruto said, nodding.
"That would make sense." Sakura added, hitting her palm with her fist.
I looked towards Naruto. "You should have given him that book after the duel." I said. Naruto facepalmed and groaned in aggravation, realizing that what I said was true. Sakura shrugged and and hooked her arm around mine.
"Since we have time, we should go walk around town together. Maybe catch up!" She said, grinning at me. I only nodded, knowing that I really had nothing else to do that was of importance. Naruto stared at where my arm locked with Sakura's before stomping over and grabbing my hand on my unoccupied arm.
"Yea! Let's go and do stuff before Kakashi-Sensei is done reading that book I got him!" He claimed excitedly, his expression changing as he tugged me down the stairs of the building with Sakura beside me. We walked through the town for a while before Naruto began to speak again. "That Kakashi-Sensei! Is reading that stupid book more important to him than seeing the results of our training?" He yelled to no one in particular as he stuffed his free hand into his pants pocket.
"Well now we have time to talk about our strategy against him." Sakura commented, her arm still around mine loosely. She didn't seem to mind Naruto holding my hand.
Naruto suddenly stopped walking and looked at Temari and shikamaru. "Sooo.. are you guys on a date?" He asked, grinning. Shikamaru instantly denied the idea of it, Temari agreeing with him that the idea was preposterous.
"The chunin exams are coming up so I've been traveling between the leaf and the sand village." Temari said. I mentally questioned why it was only between the leaf and sand, considering that there were other villages that were going to be in the exam as always. I suppose it was because the other villages, such as the sound, are definitely not as friendly.
"Oh.. speaking of which, Naruto, what are you going to do about the chunin exams?" Shikamaru asked. Naruto blinked, questioning what he meant by that. "Everyone else in our class has become a chunin. You're the only one who hasn't."
"Wait.. what?!" He yelled, letting go of my hand to clutch his hair. He looked towards Sakura, "even you, Sakura?!"
She grinned, not seeing that as an insult for whatever reason, and nodded while holding up a peace sign. "Yea, and kankuro, her-" he pointed to Temari- "and Neji are all jonin already."
"Then what about Gaara? What happened to Gaara?!" Naruto asked after he shouted in disbelief about all the news. This was quite surprising to me too, but I won't shout about it. I looked around, realizing that we were drawing attention to ourselves. Or rather, Naruto was drawing attention to us. I recognized many of the females around here, considering I'd usually find them around a corner watching me. It was very unsettling. I've always wondered how Sasuke could get used to that. Sasuke..
"So.. Gaara became the Kazekage huh.." Naruto mumbled, breaking me out of my train of thought. His hands clenched into a fist. "That's awesome.." he said, a smile appearing on his face. "I won't be outdone! I'll become the Hokage no matter what! Just you wait, Gaara!" He yelled, pointing at the mountains.
"But first you have to become a chunin." Sakura said, placing her hand on his shoulder with a smile. He deflated instantly. I stood beside him.
"Don't worry Naruto, Sasuke is still a genin too." I said after thinking about the subject for a bit. He never finished his exam either.
Naruto looked up at me. "Oh.. you're right." He started laughing obnoxiously while Sakura's shoulders slumped at the sound of his name. I looked towards her and put my hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring smile while Naruto started talking about how Sasuke was no better than him. She smiled back at me and stood up straight.
"Alright Naruto, it's time to make a battle plan!" She exclaimed, looking at the blonde clad in orange. He nodded, giving her a thumbs up.
Ya know, you guys are real cute. I hope you know I really do read your comments, I just never know if you guys actually want me to reply to them or not. But that aside, to the next chapter we go
