sloane croft was a manipulative, stone cold bitch who usually always got her way. so in the winter of 2014 when her friends decide to go to their annual getaway to the washington lodge, sloane is up for a little trouble. and maybe the chance to tell one of her friends in particular, josh washington, exactly how she feels about him. as in the fact that she's had a gigantic crush on him for a while now, despite acting just a tad bit nicer to him than the others. she isn't sure why she agrees to play a seemingly harmless prank on hannah, the sister of josh, other than the chance to have something to laugh about when it was all over.
however, things go wrong when both of josh's sisters, hannah and beth, die on that fateful night.
of course, sloane feels terrible about it now. it's something she regrets everyday but she's determined to move on. it's why she reluctantly accepts josh's invitation back to visit washington lodge one year later on the anniversary of his sisters' deaths. but sloane has no clue that she may not live to tell josh that she's sorry about it all.
