This chapter is very heavy on dialogue, so I'm sorry if that type of thing bores you, but it's for the sake of the story :)
The next morning when I woke up, I was dreading whatever was to come my way. There was nothing that I was expecting to happen, but with the events of the last two days, I wasn't going to get my hopes up that today would be any better.
I laid in bed, fully awake but my eyes shut away from the light cracking through my blinds. I thought in my silence, watching the back of my eyelids. I had one month of summer break left, four weeks, 28 days. I've been enjoying my time here so far, and I wanted to enjoy the rest while I was able.
I didn't know how I was going to make the most of it though since I had no friends and the only friend I had lived in a country where I currently was not. My dad was great and all, but I don't want to be under him 24/7, along with the fact that he has to work.
I thought of one person I could hang out with, but I quickly erased the thought from my mind.
I didn't need him, and as long as I was here, I wouldn't.
My eyes snapped open as I heard a loud vibration from my dresser, my body sitting up in my bed. I phone was visibly buzzing around the desk, the picture I had set for Emerson brightening my screen.
I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face as I reached over for my phone. I answered the phone, pressing the speaker to my ear. "Hello?"
"No callback or anything? I'm hurt, Infiniti," she started, making me roll my eyes. She giggled from her end of the phone. "But in all seriousness, you haven't called me back since like four days ago. You left me in suspense."
"Yeah, I've been a bit busy with life lately," I laughed, putting my situation the light way. I didn't want to burden her with my drama, she probably had her own stuff to deal with anyway. "But don't worry about me, what's been going on with you?"
She made a noise, a sound that I hoped was excitement. I jumped in shock at the sudden noise. "Thanks for asking! I almost forgot the reason I called you."
I nodded, not surprised at her forgetfulness.
"I saw this cute boy in the library today, I think I'm in love," she said.
I furrowed my eyebrows at her words. "What the hell were you doing in the library?"
The moment I finished my sentence, Emerson was laughing through the phone. I couldn't help but cackle with her as she continued to laugh.
"Hey I'm allowed to expand my vocabulary," she claimed, my lips pursing as I brushed her words off.
"You were scoping for boys weren't you?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
I could feel a smirk creep onto my face at her lack of response. Of course, she was looking for boys.
"That doesn't matter," she said quickly, making me cover my mouth in an attempt to hide my giggles. "Just know he was hot, had the most beautiful smile and deepest voice."
I raised my eyebrows, picturing her new admirer. Even with the vague description, he was a looker. I rubbed my eyes, standing up from my bed.
"Does your mystery boy have a name?" I inquired, walking out of my room and towards the bathroom. It was quiet throughout the house, the only sounds coming from my feet padding against the floor.
"Uh," I heard her mumble lowly into the phone. It sounded like she was trying to avoid me hearing it, but I caught on anyway. "Something with an L."
