"Hey, Y/N, take a look at this." Morgan called out to you but you were already shoving your way through the crowds of conference people and making your way to an exit. You focused on the floor, doing your best to ignore the prying eyes that watched you.

"Maybe some other time." You mumbled, shoving past him.
Behind him you could just make out the sound of him asking if you were alright but you didn't bother responding before leaving.

By the time you got to your car, the image was already imprinted in your mind. You could see every precise feature clearly.

The way his arm was wrapped around her.

The way his eyelashes were fanned over his cheeks, his eyes sealed shut.

The way she had one hand on either side of his structured face.

The way she was practically on top of him.

And most importantly, the way he didn't resist it. At all.

Tears brimmed your eyes to the point of burning. It wasn't because you were jealous, although that was a whole other story, but more so you were disappointed. This whole time you had allowed yourself to become close with someone after years of practicing doing he exact opposite.

You lived your life making a point of revisiting human contact and emotions in general. And it was all smooth sailing until this point. Until Spencer.

The worst part is, part of you was expecting it this whole time. He was too good to just sit and wait for you. So, really this whole thing was your fault. Naturally, he probably just got tired of waiting.

Resting your head on the steering wheel, you tried to calm your breathing. But as your phone began vibrating next to you, your heart rate speed up again.

Spencer was calling.

Just seeing the name on the screen made your stomach turn so you put your phone face down and aloud it to rig as you let the soft buzzing fill the car.

The fear of him coming to look for you made you start the car and begin to drive. The possible confrontation was too much to risk. Especially if he knows that you saw him, which honestly would be very unlikely or him not to.

It's not like you had anywhere else to go, so you just drove in the direction of your house. You had no one now. You'd given up your best girlfriend and now you've lost your best friend.

You were undeniably being dramatic but it felt like you'd just been stabbed in the back.

Finally, you pulled into your driveway. You're phone had rung another four times on the way over but you pressed the power button each time, forcing it to voicemail.

You ignored the current stream of notifications as you curled up on the couch. Eventually you just turned the damn thing off.

And then you felt it again. Something you hadn't felt for a few good months.

Loneliness.

You felt utterly alone.
