"Don't forget to visit sometime." Alexa whispered into my ear as we hugged goodbye.
"Yeah and next time you see me, I'll have my memory."
"Counting on it."
We pull away and I walk over to Kilo who was sitting on a log near the front gate.
"I'm gonna miss you." I nudge his arm and he looks up at me.
"Just eat your porridge while you're gone, it's good nutrients."
He pulls out a brown bag from behind him and drops it into my arms.
"You're too kind." I say sarcastically and give him one last hug before leaving.
"Wait Moona!" Asuk comes running out of his tent towards me. "You can't forget this."
He pulls the necklace off from around his neck and puts it around mine.
"The freckled boy threatened me to return it...stupid kid." He grunts straightening out his jacket.
I admire the gleaming cross dangling onto my t-shirt.
"Thanks Asuk, for everything."
"You just take care little one. Don't go wandering off again you hear?" He says, handing me a mini box.
"Loud and clear, yes sir." I salute and grab the gift.
"Open it when you get back to camp."
I nod and fidget with my necklace.
"Maddie time to go!" Clarke calls out to me.
"Coming!" I look up at Asuk who had his hand extended. I grip up his forearm like all handshakes were done and he returns the gesture.
"For all of us." I reply, only praying that that was true.
I kept my distance behind Bellamy and Clarke on our journey home. I trusted them enough to leave Hadowa but there was still an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. I just hope that I had made the right choice.
"Maddie I'd like to get there before dark!" Bellamy shouted ahead of me as I had just realized I wasn't moving. I was stopped dead in my tracks looking at the trunk of a tree.
"Comin'." I pick up my pace a little and stretch out my arms above my head.
I caught up to Clarke who was following right behind Bellamy.
"So you mentioned a couple names before..."
"Names?" She looks to the side before realization takes over her face. "Oh yeah Jasper, Monty, and Octavia. There's a lot more of us but those were the ones that came to my head."
"What are they like?"
"You're about to find out." She exclaims and her face beams at the huge sign in front of us that read 'Arkadia'.
"Woah." I'm left speechless as the huge metal sign cast a shadow over the three of us. The sun was setting down over what looked like a spaceship, or a piece of one anyway.
"Open the gates they're back!" Someone from inside shouts. I hear a loud 'buzz' noise and then the gate opens. This one was different than the one at Hadowa. It was metal and had thin wire surrounding the perimeter. Hadowa was only made up of wooden planks and poor woodwork.
"Maddie?" A voice calls me out of my stare.
"It's alright come on." A hand grabs mine and I look up to see Clarke smiling down at me. I place one foot in front of the other and walk through the gate behind Bellamy. He looked so confident with every step he took and I really wondered how he made it look so easy.
