Jen

Where had they gone?

It'd been awhile... were they sleeping together?

No, Jen, don't think like that.

They're just talking, that's all!

Noah is just talking to one of the hottest girl I've probably ever seen before.

I clenched my fists.

I had assured Noah I was over him, that this double date wouldn't create any problems... I guess I fooled myself, huh?

It's like the past few weeks didn't even happen and all progress was erased. I was right back where I started...

The guy I was sitting with - I think his name was Kevin or something.

He passed me a martini and gave me a sympathetic smile.

"That bad, huh?"

I forced a laugh.

"Is it that obvious?"

He rolled his eyes lightly, still holding a slight smile.

"I don't blame you, guys like him capture dozens of hearts just by walking in a room... he kinda makes it harder for the rest of us."

He chuckled but it seemed like something more was on his mind.

"Ohhh, you have a girl, don't you?"

His cheeks turned a little red and he rubbed the back of of his neck.

"Well, I'm working on it... but nice guys finish last, I guess."

His tone suddenly turning towards disappointment.

I personally never really put any thoughts into nice guys - I wanted excitement, erotica.

He was right, nice guys usually get put in the friend zone immediately, while us girls run after other men lined up to break our hearts. The boy I saw in front of me seemed genuine, sweet, and emotional. If only he had a little more spice...

Hmm...

I licked my hand and brushed around his hair.

"What are yo-"

"Shh, trust me."

"I don't even know you," He smiled as I continued fixing his hair.

He had the basic features of the average hispanic boy. Though he was lacking in height and striking features, his face was soft. His dark hair was short but long enough for me to add some volume and style.

"...Do you have any other clothes less..."

"Ugly?" He mused.

"I was gonna say preppy. You look like a valedictorian."

He frowned.

"Think about it," I started.

"You have great qualities, Kevin-"

"Keith."

"What?"

"My name, it's not Kevin, it's Keith." He shrugged.

"Right. Keith."

He smiled again. He was like a little puppy.

"Nice guys get walked over by girls who don't even realize it until their foot is in your mouth."

His head lowered, I almost wanted to hug him. Poor guy.

"But you can change that."

"...How?" His voice sounded hopeless.
