Someone, anyone start a Dear Evan Hansen thread here please, I haven't seen one for too long.

Or Hamilton here (because I still have an eternal love for Hamilton.)

"Pst."

I stare at the clock waiting for the lesson to end impatiently.

"Pst, Ivory."

10 minutes left.

"Ivory."

10 minutes left until I can grab my bag and run.

"Ivory."

"What?" I spin around to meet an irritated-looking Laura right beside Leah.

"Excuse me?" a high-pitched voice snaps.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to erm, be rude."

My weak attempt to stay civil and stop myself from getting lynched tomorrow may not be as simple as I thought.

"Anyway, I don't care," Leah starts grinning wickedly, "what's going on between you and Alex?"

Me and Alex.

"Funny," I smile sarcastically.

It takes a few suspicious stares for me to realise that they're not joking and genuinely believe that there's something going on between me and Alex.

"No, We're being serious."

Awkward silence.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing."

The less I talk to them the more safe and unnoticeable I am.

I hope.

"The little negro thinks she's smart enough to lie to me."

Just keep your mouth shut.

"Laura, maybe she's not lying, I mean is Alex really blind enough to ever be with... that."

"Christopher was."

"Christopher's a good actor, he doesn't like her, he never will."

Their voices are quiet, close to a whisper but not quiet enough to stay between them, they want me and everyone else near them to know what they're saying.

"No one likes you, Ivory. No one wants you here why haven't you left yet. Go back to Africa or something," Laura stabs her pen deep into my back causing me to jerk forwards.

"What happened to Lottie?" I mutter.

The poking stops.

"Who?"

"Lottie. She was with you all the time, what do you mean 'who'?"

"Shut up, Ivory."

"She caught that disease," Leah interrupts.

A disease?

Last time I saw Lottie she looked absolutely fine, not I'll.

"What disease?"

"Ugh. T-the, th-that er, that disease-"

"Homosexuality."

Oh.

Wait.
