Padawan Lost ~ AU (1st Installment of the Padawan Series)

Chapter 26

Rex walked with me and we took two speeders and headed for Corvala. It was quiet, only hearing native species chirping and we saw some animals grazing in farmer’s pastures.

                “Think of all the people we saved taking out that factory, Rex.” I started.

                “Yeah, kid. We did a good job.”

                “In Corvala, I am a Jedi. No one knows I am a Padawan. Corvala has picked up some nice scum and bounty hunters over the years. It’s better to intimidate them then look weak and childish.”

                “Yes, General.” I nodded. I don’t know where we would find Ahsoka. Corvala was a large city and I had only a handful of hours to convince Ahsoka to come back with us.

                When we arrived on the outskirts of the city, we saw the temporary town we had set up for the relocated Togrutas. I immediately recognized the little girl who I had spoken with before.

                “Hi,” I said kindly, “Do you know where Ahsoka is?”

                “You asked me that last time.” She pointed out.

                “Well, do you know where she is?” I said sweetly.

                “No. She told the elders she was making a run into Corvala to get us food. She may be dealing with black market smugglers. That’s how we get our food if we aren’t farmers.” I nodded.

                “Thank you… ah what’s your name?”

                “Teldek,” She said simply.

                “Thank you Teldek.” I said. She smiled and I motioned for Rex to walk with me.

                “Into Corvala we go.”

                “Looks like there are guards to protect the entrance… only certain people are allowed in.”

                “Smugglers,” I said blatantly. He nodded grimly.

                When we approached the guards, stepped in front of the city gates and blocked our way. Rex started to go for his blasters, but I held up a hand.

                “I can handle this.” I walked over to one guard and waved my hand level with his face saying, “You will let us pass.”

                “… I will… let you… pass.” He said, moving out of the way for me and Rex. I smiled.

                “Did General Kenobi teach you that?”

                “No,” I said simply, “You learn that from your Teacher at the Temple. It’s pretty fun.”

                “I bet.” He said.

                “Welcome to Corvala, Rex.”

                “Welcome to Corvala, kid.”
