I found myself on sitting on a boulder on top a hill, about twenty klicks away from where the remains of the droid factory lay. I was crying. As immature as that sounds, I was crying. I felt myself slipping into more anger and depression as time elapsed. Every word I had thrown at Ahsoka was playing back in my mind. You're pathetic and an insult to what the Order and what our people hold dear! You're a coward. You stand here powerless!
Those words made me cry harder. Then I felt a warm hand slip over my shoulder. I turned and saw Captain Rex standing over me. His twin blaster pistols were in their holsters and his helmet was balanced between his hip and other arm.
"Hey kid." He said as he sat down next to me. I smiled and wiped my tears.
"This isn't a way to see your future General." He laughed and I smiled.
"Ah, the job gets to you."
"It's not a job, Rex. It's a lifestyle. We Jedi live by a code, and so do you. I never chose this. I never wanted this. It was handed to me when I was a youngling and could move objects with my mind. When an exterior being expanded my mind and allowed me to alter things. The Force got me into this. I never wanted this." I put my head in my hands.
"That's not what General Kenobi thinks. He was bragging to us clones about you."
"I've only know him for a month now. It seems so long ago he thought bringing in a new Padawan was a bad idea."
"Ah, well, he's not thinking that now. He said you took out that factory all on your own."
I smiled. "I had a little help." I joked.
"I know what you said to Ahsoka." I hung my head. The bad memories came flooding back.
"I'm ashamed."
"Everyone loses their head once in a while. Master Kenobi wants you back. He said he wants to talk to you."
I stood up. "I guess that means I have to go back."
"We all have responsibilities and places in this galaxy. You'll make a great General."
"Thanks Rex." I said.
"You're welcome General Andora Peel." He nodded.
"Let's stick with 'kid' for now. I'm not ready to be a General, but thanks for the confidence."
"No problem, kid." I smiled and hopped on Rex's speeder and we rode back to our temporary command post.
"Good luck, kid." He said as I got off the speeder and started to walk to Master Kenobi whose arms were crossed and whose expression looked anything but welcoming.
