The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5: 19-21
†
Raise a child by the word of the Lord and it will live in awe and fear of a force it cannot see, nor hear, nor touch, yet condemn all other inconceivable, ungraspable powers that stir, confuse and control the body, the mind and the soul; as these are nothing but blasphemic figments and sinful fantasies, traces of the original sin, signs of insanity and the devil’s attempts to bewitch the weak and make them stray from their path to the Promised Land.
Raise your children to believe that God is their trust, granting them redemption; as God knows mercy, God knows love. But let them know there are conditions and that Heaven only welcomes those who never question these. Or question how, or question why.
Teach them to not to submit to their fleshly desires and their impure thoughts, teach them to keep their earthly bliss at bay and thank and praise and pray to the Lord for it by sunrise, noon and sunset, teach them to beg for forgiveness if they have decieved their God, the only god there is, and teach them to live their life well, but never excessively, never with ungodly passion, never dedicated to anything else but the might up in Heaven above.
Raise a child that way, as close to a saint as your offspring can be and you will raise a sinner. You will raise a victim of fear, the prey of the fallen angel you despise so much, you will raise a liar, a thief, a lost and confused and broken soul in a body domineered by all the cravings you denied them, you will raise what you have been afraid of, and your child will struggle and suffer and scream in pain, cry and slowly lose all hope and faith, and you will ask yourself: Is this God’s will?
Until your child, too, will wonder, and question it all in silent prayers.
Why do you pray?
Do you pray because you believe that God exists?
Or do you pray because you’re scared he does?
