"David," I sighed, looking anywhere but at him. I took one final look into his eyes and blurted out, "I'm pregnant."

"You're what?"

"Pregnant," I repeated, this time with a little less force. "And I promise it's yours; I'm not just telling you this because I'm trying to get money. I can do a paternity test whenever that's available if you want. But, uh, yeah. I'm pregnant."

"Oh my god," the shocked look didn't leave his face. "What if I drop it?"

I couldn't stop the giggling from bubbling out of my throat. "That's what you're worried about?"

"Um, yeah?" he said in a 'duh' tone. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "I mean, I don't doubt that it's mine. You complained all night about how you were scared of boys and you hadn't had sex in months."

"No, I didn't," I scoffed, crossing my arms over my chest defensively. "I mentioned it, like, once."

"Okay," he said in a tone that implied he didn't agree with me. "Have you been to the doctor yet?"

"No, I came to find you first."

"How many tests did you take?" he asked.

"Uh, one," I replied. He stood, ran a hand through his hair, and half smiled at me.

"I'll be back in ten minutes," he told me. "Stay here."

"Wait, where are you going?" I called as he walked out the bedroom door.

"To get more!" he yelled back. I heard the front door open and close and suddenly, I was alone. I sat quietly for the first few minutes, feeling uncomfortable in this random ass bedroom with two men having sex on the walls.

I wondered, for a second, who could live here, but I wondered no longer with someone walked through the door. I didn't recognize him, and I awkwardly waved when he stepped into his room and probably wondered who the fuck I was.

"Um," he started. "Hi?"

"Hi," I smiled, once again waving my hand like an idiot. "I'm waiting for David."

"Does he... know you're here?" he asked hesitantly, and I was sure he thought I snuck in through the back door or something.

"Yeah, he went to go get something from the store. He told me to stay here, so," I looked around the room, then my eyes fell back on the man standing in the doorway. I quickly added, "But I could go sit in the living room or something if you wanted your room back."

"No, um, if David told you to sit in here, that's fine," he shrugged. "Do you know when he should be back?"

I looked down at my phone.

"He said he'd be ten minutes five minutes ago."

"Okay," he nodded, slowly backing out of the room. "See you later!"

I didn't respond. He had already left the room and I could see him walking down the hallway, whispering to Jason, "I don't know. She didn't say."

I guess Jason sent the man back here to figure out why I was here. I sat alone for the next few minutes until David burst through the door, shutting it behind him and pulling a bag out from underneath his shirt. In it was five or so pregnancy test boxes.

"I didn't know what brand was best, so I got one of each," he dumped the boxes onto the bed. "I thought we could open them and read the instructions in here and then you could pee in a cup and we could just put them in it, instead of you trying to pee on every single one of them."

"I'm gonna need some water," I giggled, picking up one of the boxes and opening it. All of the directions were basically the same; pee on the stick and wait 3-5 minutes. David recruited Jason and three bottles of water for me, forcing me to chug them while he filmed.

"Now we wait," I sighed while David explained the situation to Jason. I guess since Jason was there that night, he felt the need to tell him.

"So you've taken one test before?" Jason confirmed, and I nodded. "Jesus Christ, David, what have you gotten yourself into?"

I would've been a little offended if he didn't stick up for me.

"Don't say it like that. It's a baby, not fucking jail time," David rolled his eyes. "We're going to be okay."

"That's the spirit!" I cheered, throwing a fist into the air. "We got this!"

The look on Jason's face told me we didn't.

"Do you need more water or are you ready?" David asked, turning away from Jason.

"Uh, well, I need, like, a cup to pee in," I awkwardly said, and then added, "And I would prefer if it wasn't clear so you guys couldn't see my pee. But beggars can't be choosers, I guess."

"Jason, can you go get a cup? And don't tell anyone what we're doing back here," David instructed. Jason rolled his eyes and mocked him, leaving the room and almost slamming the door behind him. I felt too nervous then, crossing my legs and feeling myself hunch down. "Sorry about him. He doesn't see this as an ideal situation."

"Well, it's not an ideal situation," I frowned. "But still, it's not like he's going to be babysitting all the time. I mean, honestly, David, if you don't want any part in this, I get it. I won't tell anyone it's yours. I don't mind, really."

"Are you kidding?" he furrowed his eyebrows, taking a seat next to me. He reached a hand over on top of mine and squeezed. "It's my baby; of course I want to be a part of its life. Obviously I wasn't expecting to have one now or with you, no offense, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna abandon it and hope it turns out okay. We're in this together."

"Okay, Troy Bolton," I giggled, snatching the cup from Jason who had walked in just a few seconds earlier. "I'll be right back."

We put all eight sticks into the cup and pulled them out after thirty seconds, then placed them on top of a towel on Todd's bed. David and I held hands while standing in the corner, each of us silently praying the first test was a fluke, even if neither of us would admit it.

All eight tests came up positive.

"Okay," he seemed to be getting more stressed as time went on, and I wondered if his original joke-y attitude was fading. "Uh, hold on, I have to call my manager."

"Your manager? Not, like, your parents?"

"I can't tell my parents until I know what my manager tells me to say," he explained to me, which still made little to no sense.

"What?"

"I can't have a one night stand and then have a baby," he deadpanned. "I can't. I'll be crucified and so will you. My manager needs to tell us what to say if we're making it out of this alive."

"Uh, okay," was all that came out of my mouth. "So what does that mean?"

"It means your fake boyfriend plan just got a whole lot more complicated, Sloane."
