chapter 3 -"There is no way I'm letting you go for a party in sweatpants!"

Did he just call me hot?

Lauren sat at the back and I got into the passenger's seat next to Johnny. He started the car as Lauren took her phone and connected it to the car, playing music and soon enough we all stared singing loudly to Talk by Why Don't We.

"We go breaking up like cellphones."
"When I speak cause you don't listen when I talk."
"Dial tone nothing but the high note when you speak."
"Cause I don't listen when you talk."

I turned to look at Johnny who shot me a grin and placed his hand on my thigh.

What the fuck.

I tried to breathe normally as Johnny pulled into Brandon's massive house, correction Mansion.
He parked the car and we all got off. Johnny laced his fingers through mine (IN A FRIENDLY WAY -kenzie's conscience)  as we rang the bell.

It was opened seconds later by Brandon himself, who looked sloshed. He gave us a drunken grin and then his eyes immediately landed on my chest.
"Woah Kenz, you look really hot." He blurted out.

I flushed.

"Watch it Rowland." Johnny growled.

"Right sorry umm..come  in and have fun." Brandon slurred, moving over to let us in.

I brushed past him into his house. It was a typical party with red cups, drunk teens and people staggering all over the place.

"Let's go find Hayden and everyone else." Lauren said over the loud music.

We made our way towards Brandon's living room, Johnny's hand still intwined in mine. Soon enough we found out friends sitting on the couch, talking.

They waved when they saw us, and then showered lauren and I in compliments when we went over.
I sat down on the couch inbetween Brynn and Annie.

"Kenz you look so fucking good."
Brynn winked at me.

"You clean up nice too." I joke and she gives me a smile.
"By the way kenzie I don't know if you noticed but Johnny's eyes haven't left you ever since you guys walked in." Annie winked making me flush.

I turned my head a little and sure enough her sly little comment was true. I caught Johnny standing next to Hayden with his eyes on me and when he saw me looking he winked.

He actually winked!

What's going on with him today?

I felt my stomach explode with butterflies and looked away quickly.

Okay maybe I was taking it the wrong way.
I was his best friend.
He didn't think of me like that..
If he realised how I was taking it, I'm sure he'd be disturbed. I mean he does flirt with me, but I think it comes naturally. Not because he actually likes me. It's just the way he is.
A natural flirt.

"Let's go dance!" Ruby said grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the dance floor as everyone else joined us except Carson and Johnny who were getting themselves drinks and chatting with Rush Holland.

I was attempting a playful shuffle with Annie when I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned to see Jacob Brown standing behind me.

"Oh hey Jake." I said smiling.
he flashed me a grin with his pearly white set of teeth.
"Hey Kenz do you wanna dance?"
"Sure why not." I shrug and we make our way to the middle of the dance floor.

Jacob has hair the delicious colour of chocolate and big adorable brown eyes. He's actually extremely good looking and honestly a pretty sweet guy.

As I'm dancing, I felt a weird prickly sensation at the back of my neck and I turned to see Johnny standing a few steps away bringing his drink up to his mouth and staring right back at me.

I felt Jacob's arm snake around my waist. He twirled me around and Johnny narrowed his eyes.

My stomach warmed.
Is he jealous?
Would he be jealous?

Maybe he really does like you.
Remember how he couldn't take his eyes of you?

Johnny wipes his mouth, put his drink down and turned his attention to a blonde girl who was hovering near him.

I felt my stomach drop.

"They don't call him a player for nothing." Jacob breathes down my neck, still dancing.
"Aren't you one too? All of you guys are." I looked at him with uncertainty.
He shook his head with a small smile on his face,"not me anymore..I have my eyes on someone."

I rolled my eyes and Jacob gave me a smile and put  his hands up in surrender,"it's true I do."
"Oh okay..anyways let's go I want something to drink." I mutter and he nodded as we walked back towards our friends.
