I do a slight 'ugh' and I finally nod. Ava skips out the back door and I take a seat at the island. Cindy stands in front of me and so does my dad. He wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her close. My lip turns up in disgust.

"We just want to see how you're doing, Liv," Cindy says. "We haven't seen you in what, a year?"

"Three years," I mutter.

Cindy looks down. "Oh. Yeah. Right. Anyways!" She clasps her hands together. "I just want to know if you want to come shadow me at my job! Maybe work there for the summer? I really could use an extra hand."

"Ew, no." I say. "I'm finding a job myself and I'm going to meet people." Cindy owns this stupid store that sells only summer dresses that expose more skin than a bikini.

"Liv!" Dad finally speaks up. "Don't speak to your mother that way."

My head snaps over to him. "What?! Cindy is not my mother. She is a clone trying to be my mother."

I look at Cindy and she looks down. Her face filled with hurt. I don't care. I scoff and walk out of the back door, hitting Ava in the head in the process.

She was sitting down with her ear pressed against the door. She quickly stood up with a groan and Ava picks up her bag.

"Are you okay?" She asks me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It just really ticked me off when my dad called her my mother." I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and Ava and I walk in sync.

"It's alright, I understand." Ava says as she takes her long strides. "We have to be back by 11."

"What do you mean?" I ask taking long strides as well.

"I just...understand. We'll talk about it later." Ava shrugs. Her face suddenly brightens and I raise a brow. I was about to ask her what had happened when she pointed a long finger out.

"I see the bonfire! Don't you hear the music?!"

I listen intently and I do head it. It's a quiet thumping. I nod. "Yeah, I do hear it."

"Come on, let's race." She stops and places her right foot out and bends down. I stop and put my left foot out. Yes, I am left handed. I blow my hair out of my face and bend down.

"Ready? On your mark...get set...go!" She bursts off into a full sprint. I take off after her. I take off my flip flops for a brief second and push to catch up to Ava.

The music is loud now and I see all of the strewn lights. Ava gets to the entrance and bends down, placing her hands on her knees. I get there a couple of seconds after her. She smirks.

"I win."

"Whatever. I had to take my flip flops off."

Ava shrugs. She now places her hands on the back of her head and walks around, breathing heavily. A guy with lilac coloured hair sneaks up behind Ava and wraps his arms around her.

She giggles as he kisses her cheek. "Hi, babe." He says.

"Hello, cutie." She repsonds.

A medium length brunette with a little bit of make up on her face, walks up with her arm wrapped around an extremely tall, blonde guy with a lip piercing. A tall, dimpled guy wearing a red bandana skips up, holding a short, pink haired girl's hand.

These guys are all really tall. The blonde is like a freaking tree. Ava beams and she walks over to me, linking her arm with mine. "This is Liv everyone! She's staying here for the summer!"

"Oh is this your stepsister?" The tall blonde asks.

"Yeah." I say.

"Okay, Liv," Ava says. "The lilac haired guy is Michael Clifford. He's also my boyfriend," she gushes. "The cheeky guy with the bandana is Ashton Irwin, the one with the pink hair is my best friend Addison. Umm, the quiffed blonde is Luke Hemmings and the brunette is Lillian." She looks around and her furrowed her brow. "I don't know where Calum is..."
