people speak them with
confidence or fear
and some speak them
loudly or even in soft tones
there is a science behind
these noises yet they bring emotion
soul and spirit
we use them to tell stories
so that we don't forget and
sometimes we transfer them from spoken words
to markings on pages like skin
tattooing the parchment
with our ink just so that we
can keep these words safe
they are beautiful but
also ugly and twisted like
the roots of an old oak
sometimes they lay flat or do
not convey much yet
everything to us
in one instant.
these words fill us
in a way of no other
they are our source of life and we should learn to respect them
even if they hold no
meaning and all meaning
they are our words
they should be heard
and no one else can have them.
