The next several weeks were filled with classes, exchange students, and studying. Training as well, can't forget about that. I took the Paladin out for a bit of work, it was pretty fun to stomp out some Beowolves in the woods. I had mastered most of the subclasses by now as well. The only ones that eluded me were the Sunsinger, and Sunbreaker. Funny, the two solar classes I'm not native two are the ones I can't master. Along with my mastery of the classes, I started to teach Nagisa about using our second souls, Crota and Oryx. She was picking up on it quick and some things were becoming clear. I was able to summon Crota using a sigil similar to Hive Wizards and she had traits of being able to physically brand and take an opponent. Much like Oryx taking the Cabal Centurion on the Dreadnaught. She picked it up much faster than I had. Must be her Awoken traits coming out, always gotta one-up a human.
But that's for a later time. Out of some miracle the whole team passed our exams. Even with Gabe joining late in the semester, he picked up all of the work like it was nothing. Guess it's the advantage of living on Remnant your whole life. We were almost done with Port's class for the semester when he dropped a bit of knowledge on us.
"Students," he started "you have a great opportunity before you. Myself, along with a handful of other professors from this school as well as other academies will be leading an expedition into the wilderness for a small duration of your semester break."
My team all looked at each other, we were all sort of excited for this. Ever since the rumors started circulating we had talked about joining Port on it. Team Ruby and Juniper seemed to feel the same way. Weiss raised her hand, probably had a question about the sleeping conditions.
"Just one moment Miss. Schnee," Port said, denying her question. "I may answer your question still." She put her hand down and didn't seem phased by the rejection, but rather seemed to listen more. "We will be hiking up a trail between kingdoms. Several of which will result in the settling of campsites in the wilderness. Everyday will see the group hiking great distances and possibly engaging in fights between the occasional Grimm. The area, however, will have very little amounts of the creatures. This adventure will provide you the views of the nature in Remnant. This area will contain plants and animals found globally.
Now, before we get to the portion of time were teams sign up for the trip, there are some guidelines to be allowed to go on the the adventure. You must have completed and passed all exams of the past semester. Which should not be a problem for all of you, you learned from the best! Next, you are only allowed to bring one weapon. For those of you that have weapons that transform between two, they are allowed. For those that have multiple, you must choose one to bring. Finally, you be willing to do a little work. Each night we will rotate jobs such as gathering firewood, cooking food, cleaning our utensils, etcetera."
The weapon thing was a little bummer to me, but I guess it would make it easier on everyone to reduce their carry load.
"Now," Port continued. "Any questions?" Weiss's hand rose again. "Yes, Miss Schnee?"
"Professor," she started "I understand that this would be a chance for us to see the wilderness and sharpen our survival skills. But what would our final destination be? A lake? A canyon?"
"Ah yes, excellent question! If you choose to join the expedition, I can assure you the final stop will be truly rewarding. With our final goal being a lodge where we will spend three days and enjoy the comfort of the latest Atlas Tech and the sunshine the area is known for."
This got the class talking. Everyone wanted to go now. Noah nudged me and I looked over at him.
"We are so signing up," he said.
"Oh, hell yes."
"Now," Port added as everyone started to quiet down "please have the team leaders stay after class to sign up and if that happens, please be at the airship docks tomorrow morning at six. We will take a few ships to the start of the trail and start hiking our first day as soon as we are able to. Class, dismissed."
